Read what parents are saying about George Gervin AcademyIf I could give no stars I would. The adult teachers act like children. They do not take accountability ability or their actions. Teachers fabricate stories to get students in trouble.
Posted by a parent on 4/4/2022OK I see my child was in pre-K Headstart and was just with John because of her absences yes she misses a lot but I do have my excuses because she does get sick quite often October was rough for me she had got an ear infection and strap and she had eye surgery what’s the point of telling us to have Dr. excuses if they don’t even use them or count them as excused absences. In September I received a letter saying that my daughter could not go back to school until her shot records were up to date which they have been since July unfortunately I was not able to afford to Get the shot records so she had missed three days before they called asking why my daughter has not been in school when I let them know it’s because they sent me a letter stating that she could not go back until her shot records up-to-date which it was they called me back the next day acting like nothing “oh yes we made a mistake you can go ahead and bring her today.” Mind you she had a missed already three days I spoke with the school and was told that she would be marked present for those three days but she was not they put it under medical would you still like she was absent and because of that my medical excuses for her which were all legit doctor notes didn’t count after a certain amount of Dr. excuses they don’t include them as excused absences anymore I’m not sure if you know that but just inform you. You know I did what I asked about coming to get extra packets are asking for extra homework when she missed. Some absences were Tardes that added up those days I couldn’t help because car trouble’s but hey I got her to school. I think what upsets me the most is they made me feel like I should a chance to get her back into school if I brought all the doctor notes and show them to them to make sure that they had the same ones I had on record not my fault Y’alls paperwork is not organized. But at the end of the day was basically told that their minds are made up and she was being withdrawn and I wasn’t allowed to talk to the vice principal or the principal that there’s no point in it you know honestly I wish I was told that in the morning then feeling like I had a chance to keep her In school to the end of the year instead of making me look stupid And telling me it doesn’t matter what I have she’s being withdrawn.I really wish I was someone I could talk to you because it’s not fair.
Posted by a parent on 1/25/2020Fue la primer escuela de mi hija.
Posted by a parent on 7/4/2019Horrible, the teachers in the school will not even use the crosswalk when transferring kids/students from one side of the street to the other.
Posted by a community member on 5/21/2018This is the MOST dysfunctional school EVER, there is no structure AT ALL. The administrative staff members are ALWAYS confused, they have no safety for the students. I have witnessed a student on the first day of school running out of class and the teacher not even knowing the child was gone. Visitors don't always check into the front office to check children out of school or to walk the campus. Teachers are RUDE, and not all teachers just the majority. It is extremely unorganized and I can't wait until the end of the school year, my children will not be going back to this school.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI wouldn’t send my student anywhere else than Fort Sam Elementary. It’s a hidden gem where students are loved and have endless opportunities. They invest time and money into the changing times. Our students have access to state of the art techs and more continues to purchased based on the needs and discovery of new things. The principal and his staff are present - in the cafeteria and classrooms constantly. They are seen and involved. The teachers want to be there- of course some are at different stages in their career and have teaching styles, but in my experience they go out of their way to connect and teach. I’ve been extremely happy with our time here.Parent Review2y ago - East Terrell Hills Elementary School
