Pecan Grove Elementary School

The area surrounding the school is very diverse, primarily with well settled highly educated families that have traditional Asian values and high emphasis on academics. However, the area it serves is a very expensive and affluent one, so the kids and parents are very entitled. This definitely affects the kids, Ive seen students who look down at peers who live in apartments and are very quick to be materialistic. They also have little concept of expressing gratitude or showing the concept of community. Despite how academically ambitious the students are usually here, they are not that well rounded. Another thing I observed is resulting from how entitled the parents are, they seem to bully teachers who are more stern and uphold high academic standards. They can be quick to interrogate teachers about their child's grade then proceed to be disagreeable if the child does not get the grade to the parents liking. Lastly, due to how popular FBISD has been and budget cuts, you can expect large class sizes of 25 - 30 kids. All that being said, it is one of the better public schools in the state nonetheless, but of course, make sure you do your due diligence as a parent and community member.

My daughters attend this school since 2020 and it’s been amazing! There is not one negative thing I vacant say. My kids are thriving and are loving school.

Adolphus elementary allowed my children’s mother to withdraw them from school and leave to another state. The mother was not even allowed to pick the children up after school and her name was never on the paperwork on enrollment. When I asked why they allowed for this to happen, they gave me a false ex parte dvro and said her name was on the birth certificate. I am now in a legal custody battle across states due to this negligence.

I will say that when my child started in 2023, we had a different Principle and staff. After she left, most of the amazing teachers went too. I was initially excited for FBISD but with the incoming Principle, I feel like disorganization soon followed. My child has a non- certified teacher who is struggling with certain classes that said teacher teaches and the principle has been made aware of things that have been said, but nothing has changed. I would love for the kids to be able to be kids at elementary school. Every time I have lunch with my child, there is no talking in the lunchroom. One of the staff told me that they disrupt the music room??? That, my friend is a poorly planned layout. They are overcrowded and I feel lie that is the reason they want kids to not be rowdy. There are better fixes: maybe open the field before school at drop off time for the kids to expend some energy [prior to class starting and then again at the end of the day. These are free fixes that make a huge difference. It feels like our principle is in over her head and she has a lot of new educators, just adding to the issue.

Malala Elementary is WONDERFUL. We miss it so much. Both my son and daughter attended. The teachers, counselors, staff, everyone - kind and caring and genuine. Amazing community - better than even some private schools.
