Read what parents are saying about Hay Branch Elementary SchoolMy family has moved a few times this school is not the best.
Posted by a parent on 5/24/2018This is our second year with this school. My daughter was bullied last year and all year I was lied to about what was being done, which was actually nothing. I thought this year would be better with some new teachers and a new principal but the bullying continues and when they investigate it was always an "accident" though the bully has repeated incidents with several different students. My kids will be moved to another school.
Posted by a parent on 10/24/2017Horrible! The drop off makes some sense but pick up is horrible and there is never a place to park. This is by far the worst school for bullying also. We moved last year and last year she was bullied and this year it continues. Whats worse is the teacher gets onto the kid who is being bullied and not the bully.
Posted by a parent on 9/26/2017We moved into this school zone the last three months of the year. Even though it had low ratings I decided it would be a good chance to see if we liked the school before transferring my child. The staff was nice and my child preformed well academically but their attitude towards bullying was apathetic. I saw children leaving the school in tears on multiple occasions due to bullying. When my child was on the receiving end the administrator I spoke with told me that a lot of the children at this school were a "tougher" sort because of their home life and economic status, and that there was little that could be done about it. I have seen successful anti-bullying programs in other schools, there is no excuse to just tolerate unacceptable behavior. Schools should be teaching children how to treat others with respect especially if they are not learning it at home. School can and should be a positive experience. I hope they are able to make the necessary adjustments to fix this problem.
Posted by a community member on 8/24/2016This started out as a great school. I liked that they informed us about every little thing, but that became annoying quickly. Children are active and they don't always comply but that is what these teachers went to school for! My child has been picked on and bullied and nothing has been done other than suspending her off the bus or putting her in ISS. I will be removing my children after this year because this school upsets me....

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have two special needs kids and Brookhaven has gone above and beyond to ensure their IEP and overall needs are being met. The office staff and teachers are super friendly and supportive. I find that they always make the time to listen to your suggestions or concerns. I love seeing the staff and teachers interact with the kids as most of them know them well. Being a volunteer at the school, I am able to see first hand the love the teachers have for their profession. I would definitely recommend this school to other parents.Parent Review11mo ago - Excellent Covenant Christian Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was excited when my child first enrolled in the daycare. They gave a great introduction on how they send homework each week etc. My Child has been there awhile and they have just begun to actually do that. They different teachers so often that I don't actually get to know them personally. I would like to send my child to pre-k, but they have not proven to me that they have a program that is worthy enough. The teachers in the daycare are unqualified, and they only know how to change diapers, but do not take out the time to teach your child. So if you're looking for a daycare where your child's education and care is primary please select another facility.Parent Review14y ago - St Joseph Catholic School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSome teachers are not certified and have little experience in the classroom. The school cares more for indoctrinating children rather than educating the whole child. Many teachers (even those with experience) lack the ability to deal with students with even slight behavior problems. Referrals will be written and you might not know about it until you have several in front of you at a conference. I have my doubts with this school and I desperately don’t want anyone to be led astray by them. There are some serious systematic problems regarding how discipline is handled and expectations of students. Please do your research. You can look up certifications on the TEA website.Parent Review2y ago - Killeen Adventist Jr Academy
