Read what parents are saying about Fossil Ridge High Schoolin my time in this school I have seen a lot of racism and hate in this school students smoke and do drugs in the school and the staff don't try to stop it the school has a problem with fights the school is also very stingy the school is like a prison and cares about funding more than making sure the students succeed in life.
Posted by a student on 8/31/2023I'm sorry, but this school is just the worst I always got depressed and sad here even when I tried to be happy. This school sucks in ALL aspects
Posted by a student on 3/8/2023Absolutely wonderful. I can tell you that if any students are not making progress it is their own fault. My teachers work very, very hard and strongly encourage students to do their best. The problem is, I'm sorry to say, simply that most of the students don't listen to this advice. They would rather play on their phones than do any work. But the staff and administration is wonderful and thanks to them I am well on my way to becoming a teacher myself. You'll notice that all of the bad reviews are from several years ago. Between 2012 and 2014 the KISD school board and school administration instituded some ill-advised policies that led to poor student performance and behavior, including a bomb threat on the last day of school in 2014 (My teachers usually mention this time period when we ask about the weirdest thing they've seen in their career). However, the school took corrective measures the next year, including shortening the passing periods and greatly increasing campus security, and completely eradicated these problems. Fossil Ridge is a grand school, with good teachers, good administration, and, at the core, good students. Anyone who ever visited Fossil Ridge nowadays could have nothing but good things to say about it.
Posted by a student on 5/24/2017I have had 6 children attend Fossil Ridge High School and all six have had a marvelous experience. Three have since graduated from college and one is well on her way. Great school, great faculty and staff!
Posted by a community member on 1/25/2016Every high school has problems, it is how they deal with it that makes it either a bad school or a good school. FRHS has amazing students who work hard to achieve success. The teachers and administration truly care about the students not just for academics but also as a person. If you rated it below 4 stars, you don't know the real FRHS.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a title one school, this campus takes many strides to provide tutors and one-on-one help for those who need it, a high quality team for their special education and life students, and lots of creative clubs and after school opportunities for kids to participate in. They are a leader in me school where kids are learning to make responsible choices, their fine arts music and theater programs allow lots of opportunities for students to participate in live programs learning during their classes as well as after school opportunities. The staff has worked hard the past few years to bring scores and ratings up and is now a B grade school. I love the evening events as well, from music and theater programs to science nights, reading night, fun family movie nights and Holiday activities. Plus soon they will have a brand new building that is state of the art to move into.Other Review1y ago - Park Glen Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt’s a wonderful school. You feel welcomed the second you walk in the door. You feel like the staff is happy to be there, which says a lot for the administration.Parent Review3mo ago - North Riverside Elementary School

Parent Review2mo ago - Friendship Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnable or unwilling to accommodate children with disabilities. Refusal to follow 504 plans, argumentative teachers. Refuse to communicate. Withhold information and grades. Very poor performing and very low expectations of student body. High focus on limited English proficiency and dyslexia, while everything else is essentially ignored, glossed over. We were lied to for years about our child’s placement and told she didn’t qualify for an IEP, which was not only untrue, it was not legal. Principal is Teflon - refuses all accountability for theirs or others’ actions. Blames and finger-points to shift the focus of self. Our community deserves so much better. Our kids deserve so much better. It is shocking how long these behaviors have been allowed to continue, even when Dr. Westfall, HR, and legal counsel are aware.Parent Review1y ago - Basswood Elementary School
