Clear Lake Intermediate School

The teachers generally seem nice and caring, but some teachers use antiquated negative reinforcement techniques such as clip charts and they take away recess time from children as punishment. The kids also generally don't seem to be able to socialize with each other much throughout the day. In kinder, the focus seems to be on learning by rote memorization, when perhaps learning through play might be more fitting for that age. It also doesn't appear that there is much differentiated learning for kids who excel. There is a GT program, but the students only spend a very limited time in the GT class.

My son was in special education from kinder and 1st there in general classroom setting. Putting him in this school was such a horrible experience. I couldn't move him to a school out of zone unless the other school approved and since my son is not average, of course no other school wanted to take him. We were stuck here until I finally had to move homes to get him in a different zone. The people in charge here might act nice to your face but anytime I brought up a problem the principal and assistant principal would get rude and get an attitude. They were not following recommendations of my son's IEP which is sad. They complain about the problems but then don't want to follow the recommendations from his evaluation of things he needed to help him succeed in school. They would lock him up in a room in the office sometimes for hours. All the parents were invited for Thanksgiving lunch, when I got there my son was not with his class, it took me a while to find out he was sitting in a separate desk by himself facing the wall during Thanksgiving lunch and the reason for him being there was ridiculous. They would make him eat lunch in the room in the office by himself, this is a kindergartener. He hated going to school he would cry, it was horrible. He was severely behind and all of his academics. They refuse to think it was a good idea to make a behavior intervention plan even though his behavior was putting them in the office all day and he would not be able to learn like that. Again dealing with the principles was a horrible experience and I am so glad that we are finally in a new school that is actually trying to help him and is catching him up now. If you have an average child this might be an okay school, if your child has any kind of special needs I do not recommend for you to go to the school. Sometimes this school and be frustrated because slot of kids bulky other kids so there should be a chance of kids filling a application of they get bullied or racism.

My daughter came in using ARD services for ADHD; The school has been open-minded, compassionate, empathetic, and completely accommodating. We're so thrilled to be with Falcon Pass!

St. Clare is a hidden gem in the Clear Lake area. They are family center and encourage parents to be involved in their child's education. I love the school events and how we can be active members in the school community.

I have two children who have attended Bay Area Montessori House for going on three years now, and I could not be more grateful for this school. One of my children spent two years in public school and was so miserable, just trying to get through basic homework created endless arguments and frustrations that wore our whole family down. When we found BAMH, everything changed.My other child started here from the beginning, and both of them are flourishing. Their strengths are celebrated, and at the same time, they are given the time and support to grow in the areas where they need it. The learning environment is calm, joyful, and respectful, and the sense of community is truly wonderful.The head of school is amazing, she is a true AMI-certified Montessori guide, which makes all the difference. As a side note, Dr. Montessori never trademarked the word “Montessori,” so any school can use it in their name whether or not they follow authentic Montessori practices. If you are looking for the real Montessori experience, make sure you choose a school like BAMH that is AMI-certified.This school has been such a gift to our family, and I can’t recommend it enough.
