Armand Bayou Elementary School

The teachers generally seem nice and caring, but some teachers use antiquated negative reinforcement techniques such as clip charts and they take away recess time from children as punishment. The kids also generally don't seem to be able to socialize with each other much throughout the day. In kinder, the focus seems to be on learning by rote memorization, when perhaps learning through play might be more fitting for that age. It also doesn't appear that there is much differentiated learning for kids who excel. There is a GT program, but the students only spend a very limited time in the GT class.

The staff and teachers are pretty friendly and helpful. 4 years I had 2 kids go here and I feel it was a positive experience. The nice ladies who work in the front office / reception area are truly amazing. They remember your name and who your kids are and are always willing to go the extra mile for you and your family.

ABE is one of the smallest K-5 schools in the city. The school allows parent involvement unlike some others. It offers an excellent education program that is evolving with the times. Providing a great foundation to our children's future.

Amazing school! We love that this school is much smaller than most of the others in CCISD. Everyone seems to know everyone, and there seems to be a lot more accountability because of this! The new principle, Mrs. Thomas, has brightened our spirits and brought so much love to the school. I can't imagine leaving this wonderful community!

We are new to the area and have been so pleased with the teachers and all of the staff at this school. My daughter struggles with dyslexia, and since starting here, has brought her reading grade up 11 points and had almost completely graduated from the dyslexia program. The staff really cares about every student as well as the parents too!
