Read what parents are saying about Clear Lake High SchoolThis school needs to read the Sandy Hooks Promise. They don't seem to care.
Posted by a parent on 2/11/2024The new leadership does not care about student success or well-being. All they care about is sports. There are other sports- centered schools in CCISD, bring the old principal back!
Posted by a parent on 11/25/2022Clear Lake is the best school in the area in terms of preparing students for higher education. It is definitely a school for students who have some academic drive and intend to go on to college. It is less well suited for students who need more specialized attention or do not have some personal motivation, academically. So long as you are looking for a school that will help your child achieve their highest potential academically and achieve their future goals, you really can't find a better place south of Houston.
Posted by a community member on 8/4/2015I currently go to Clear Lake. It is extremely competitive. If you don't put in the effort to make good grades, the teachers will not help you. They do not baby you in any way. They prepare you for college very well.
Posted by a student on 12/16/2013Don't let them find out if the doctor prescribes strong medication for your child. They will either have a choice of taking it and staying home or going to school in pain. They think they know more than the parents or doctors.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers generally seem nice and caring, but some teachers use antiquated negative reinforcement techniques such as clip charts and they take away recess time from children as punishment. The kids also generally don't seem to be able to socialize with each other much throughout the day. In kinder, the focus seems to be on learning by rote memorization, when perhaps learning through play might be more fitting for that age. It also doesn't appear that there is much differentiated learning for kids who excel. There is a GT program, but the students only spend a very limited time in the GT class.Parent Review2y ago - Clear Lake City Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son was bullied at this school and the teachers and administrators did little to resolve the issues. The principal made it clear she does not want to hear from parents. The two teachers my son had seemed distracted, overwhelmed, and unhappy in their jobs. As a result my son had a very negative experience at Brookwood.Other Review2mo ago - John F Ward Elementary School
