Every single teacher he has had has not been proficient. This year alone he's had 3 different teachers before half of the year was up! Progress isn't reported in a
Posted by a parent on 4/14/2015Burrus worked one on one with me and my son. I'm a single mom , any extra help is needed .The staff were more like family. Even giving kids clothes , when walfare can't help. One year someone donated Nike shoes for christmas.

He knows the parents, students and has managed to build a positive relationship with the stakeholders in the community. Although, Burrus is a great school there is always room for improvement. There is a need for improvement

Students do HISD worksheets while sitting on the floor during so called Montessori time. Do not recommend as a magnet school anymore. 8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don't like Helms elementary school, my child went there for one school year. All they do is speak Spanish. It's supposed to be dual language. They mostly speak Spanish, my child is black, she never wanted to go to school. She said the kids didn't play with her. What really upset me was, they never did any Black History programs, but they did everything the Hispanic people celebrated. I have nothing against Hispanic people or their heritage. They just need to include other races heritage too. Please speak English and Spanish, this is America and English I out language. It's okay to do both equally. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child was injured by a teacher at Jefferson Early Learning Center. he is able to clearly explain how he was pinched on his shoulder and at his throat. he is 4yo!!! The principal has refused several requests for a sit down, and the assistant principal promised follow up that just never came. we have no choice but to trust our babies will be safe at school.
