Rivertree Academy

This is an awful school. Avoid at all cost. My son was just given a tablet with full access to the internet all day. The school is just a glorified day care center. Your child will leave this school with a far below grade reading and zero math skills.

My daughter has been at Ridglea Hills for three years. She loves it and is thriving with the amazing teaching staff. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. There are many great events throughout the year to bring families together.

The school staff do not care about the children. From being left with no supervision after school during sports practices involved with the school, teachers singling out children who score lower than others - photos included of kids who “meet standards” while other kids sit and watch - feeling lesser than, kids being left alone on playgrounds with zero supervision next to highway 30 - the school blames the soccer organization that they hired to work with - this is not the school you want your child involved with. My kids self esteem has gone way down.

Tanglewood is like a new school since the new principal took over in 2020. She is dynamic and invested in the success of ALL students. She embraces all parents and treats them equally, unlike her predecessor. Tanglewood has had its facilities upgraded in the last few years and has become much more diverse student population. It has a much more inviting feel and I attribute that to the administrative staff, teachers and a new generation of parents.

Our family removed our child from Holy Family Catholic School after ongoing peer issues and bullying concerns that we do not believe were handled appropriately by the school.What was most troubling was not simply the behavior between students, but our repeated experience feeling that concerns were minimized, inadequately addressed, or treated as less serious than they were by the principal and pastor. As parents, we watched clear negative changes in our child’s emotional well-being, confidence, and overall happiness during our time there.We also left with the strong perception that some families appeared to receive different levels of responsiveness, consideration, or influence within the school community. Whether intentional or not, we often felt that long-established or more financially connected families were treated differently when concerns arose. That perception significantly affected our trust in the school’s ability to handle situations fairly and consistently.We understand that every school will have social conflict at times. The issue for us was the school’s response and the lack of confidence we ultimately had that our child was being adequately protected and supported within the environment.Parents considering this school should ask detailed questions about:* how bullying complaints are documented and investigated,* how patterns of peer behavior are addressed,* how consistency and fairness are ensured across families,* and how administration communicates with parents when serious concerns are raised.This review reflects only our family’s personal experience and opinions, but we would never choose this school again.
