M L Phillips Elementary School

security is a joke, I've been to the school several times, never been asked to sign it, or sign my child out, there is no fence around the school and only half a fence around the playground. I feel like it will take a child getting into the street and getting struck by a car for them to finally agree to put in a full fence with a locking gate and not the few yards of chain link fence with open access to the parking lot and the street that is there now.

My daughter has been at Ridglea Hills for three years. She loves it and is thriving with the amazing teaching staff. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. There are many great events throughout the year to bring families together.

Our son’s first week ended in expulsion despite being upfront about his autism. St. Peter’s Boerne failed him. They are quick to take your money but not help a special needs child.

Our family lasted only three months at Holy Family Catholic School, and those three months had an incredibly negative emotional impact on both my daughter and me. We enrolled hoping for a welcoming, faith-based community with strong academics and a supportive environment. Unfortunately, our experience was the opposite. As a newer family, we struggled to feel welcomed or included. In our experience, there were established social circles, and it often felt difficult to break into the community. Rather than feeling like part of a supportive school family, we frequently felt like outsiders. We also had serious concerns involving student interactions and bullying. My daughter experienced situations that caused significant emotional distress, and we did not feel that our concerns were handled in a way that restored her sense of safety, confidence, or belonging. Watching your child become increasingly unhappy because of school is heartbreaking.I also had concerns about the classroom environment and certain interactions involving my daughter. Some comments and ways students were addressed made us uncomfortable and raised concerns about whether students were consistently being treated with the respect and sensitivity we expected. After we left, information was brought to me that made me uncomfortable about my daughter continuing to be discussed within the school environment.Academically, I was disappointed as well. I did not leave feeling confident that my daughter was receiving the level of instruction, support, and individual attention I expected from a private school. The emotional impact was ultimately why we left. In only three months, my daughter and I experienced an incredible amount of stress, sadness, frustration, and emotional exhaustion connected to this school. A school should be a place where a child feels safe, supported, respected, and encouraged to learn. That was not our experience.I cannot speak for every family, and I understand others may have had positive experiences. However, ours was deeply negative. My advice to prospective parents is to look beyond the marketing, ask questions about how bullying and parent concerns are handled, and pay close attention to how new families are welcomed. Most importantly, listen to your child. We tried to give the situation time, but after only three months, it became clear that leaving was the best decision we could make for our daughter's well-being.
