Great elementary school for my soon to be 8 year old so far. She was welcomed into the after school program on the first day of registration which is a blessing. She informed me that she made friends at the school and students at this school have been nice as well as teachers. School is close to hom

However, every time I'm up there to get him or attend an event, there's always a teacher in the hallway fussing and yelling at the kids. These children are younger than my son. Posted by a community member on 3/2/2014My son attended this school in their PPCD program last year. I absolutely LOVE his teacher & her aid but the rest of the school I could do without. I pulled my son after a terrible ARD in which the vice principal pretty much let me know that my child was a low priority. At the end of the school

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe were having way too many issues with the school and my daughter’s behaviors were getting worse. An Assistant grabbed my autistic child’s arm one day and then my final straw was someone from the school told my husband we should start spanking her. I had to report the school to the TEA and the principal's first suggestion, at my child’s ARD Meeting, was to transfer my daughter to a new school, not what they could do to remedy it. They clearly wanted to get rid of my child and not help her. When I asked my daughter why she was being bad, her reason was, “I’m a bad kid”, so the teachers and assistants were telling my 6 year old, autistic child that she was a bad kid. After discussing with family and my daughter’s School Advocate/Social Worker, we decided to pull her from the school and homeschool her. The social worker even said it sounds like a Civil Liberties issue with the school. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience for our Kindergarten and 1st grader. Staff is competent, friendly and involved and from what I’ve seen, behavior issues in the classroom are minimal. Our first grader went to a different school in kindergarten and the turnaround we’ve seen in her since she’s been at River Trails has been amazing.
