Read what parents are saying about Nelson Elementary SchoolMy daughter attends Nelson and she loves it!! The teachers are warm and welcoming. Every single teacher she's had went above and beyond to make sure she grew academically but also socially. They did an amazing job building relationships and was always so friendly and welcoming. I love Nelson Elementary!
Posted by a parent on 8/8/2022This was the worst experience I have ever had. My child's teacher was HORRIBLE there was no communication and the principal will not hold any accountability. We never received any graded work from child's teacher, we never knew what was going on in the classroom and the teacher ruined my child's self confidence and love of learning.I will never recommend this campus nor any other Denton ISD campus to anyone.

Posted by a parent on 6/28/2020My son went here for Kinder in 2010-11. Our experience was great, and Mrs. D was a wonderful instructor. Everyone was so kind and the facility was new and very nicely planned out.
Posted by a parent on 12/16/2013This is a great school. We have only had positive interactions here. My children have learned so much and the teachers really care. The principal is very friendly and very accommodating to our family!

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe leadership at Sam Houston is phenomenal. Teacher turnover is very low and most teachers retire from here after long careers. They have been wonderful with my children and have created a great environment for learning. PTA is also incredibly supportive and work very hard to benefit the students. Great school!!!Parent Review3y ago - Mcnair Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is amazing, from the teachers and staff to the families who attend. My only complaint is that the school could use an exterior facelift, but it's nice inside and well maintained.Parent Review5y ago - Ryan Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is our daughters second year at Corinth Montessori. She loves it! We chose to send her year round because she would have been devastated not seeing her teachers and friends! Highly recommend considering Corinth Montessori for 18 months +. Ms. Marquis, Ms. Doris, and Ms. A in classrooms 1 & 2 will love your child and support their growth. We also love Ms. Kathy and Ms. Nataly up in the front office. Extremely friendly, welcoming, and communicative!Parent Review1y ago - The Selwyn School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe withdrew both of our daughters from Selwyn after less than two months, despite committing to paying the full year of tuition. This decision was influenced by the school's notably low academic standards and expectations. Our older second-grader transitioned to Argyle public school, while the other attended Montessori Country Day School. Both of these alternative schools proved to be better fits than Selwyn.Initially, we believed that a private school with an entrance exam requirement would maintain academic standards at least equivalent to nearby public schools. During our school tour, we observed students working at their desks, creating an impression of a typical school environment. However, our experience with our second-grader was disappointing. The new teacher assigned minimal work and accepted low-quality submissions. Our daughter quickly realized that she could do the bare minimum and still have time for play or other activities. The teacher's reluctance to consistently send work home prevented us from ensuring our daughter put forth her best effort. This was a stark contrast to her previous school, Challenger, which had high academic standards and provided daily homework, offering valuable feedback on her progress. In the case of our Pre-K daughter, Selwyn's program lacked any emphasis on phonics. Unlike Challenger, which introduced basic reading skills before kindergarten, Selwyn delayed phonics instruction until kindergarten, including letter sounds. Recognizing the importance of early reading skills, we transferred her to a Montessori school that actively teaches phonics. Both our daughters enjoyed there time at Selwyn though they learned very little. That said neither dislike there current schools which are clearly more academically rigorous.Avoid Selwyn if academic excellence is a priority for you. Numerous public schools and certain private institutions, such as Challenger, offer superior educational experiences. Initially hopeful that this "process school" would have the academic rigor of our public school with more personalized learning opportunities, it ultimately proved to be nothing more than an exorbitantly priced daycare.Parent Review3mo ago
