During my time working at this school, I witnessed deeply concerning and inappropriate treatment of bilingual students. I observed situations that could cause emotional and mental injury to children who were between 10 and 11 years old. There were instances of inappropriate verbal comments, as well
Posted by a teacher on 10/1/2026After giving it a great deal of thought, I have decided not to return this year. I feel as though a tremendous weight has been lifted off my shoulders. The school has too many internal and systemic issues that prevent teachers from truly supporting their students. The bilingual program, in particula
Posted by a teacher on 7/30/2026I honestly wouldn't recommend this school. A lot of concerns about staff stereotyping students and talking down to them were ignored by administration. Some students were even mocked for their home language and culture. Instead of feeling supported, many students are made to feel disrespected or wor
Posted by a parent on 5/21/2026Staff is rude and unprofessional. Some students do want to learn but everyone is not treated same. Teachers have favorites.
Posted by a parent on 4/16/2026I honestly don’t understand how the district hasn’t stepped in yet, the decline of this elementary school has been obvious for a while now. The principal was replaced and sent to a school that’s now on the verge of closing, which says a lot, but instead of real accountability it feels like problems

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy only complaint is, I think that the teachers can be more welcoming in the mornings when helping the kids get out of the car they don’t say good morning. Have a great day. Nothing they don’t even have a smile on their face..Parent Review8mo ago - Hawk Elementary School

Every single teacher she's had went above and beyond to make sure she grew academically but also socially. They did an amazing job building relationships and was always so friendly and welcoming. NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has attended Selwyn for 6 years and is currently in 3rd grade. He has enjoyed the small class sizes and the individual support that he gets from his teachers. All the adults know his name and ask him about his day. The rigor has ramped up each year and he's doing great work. I've been impressed with the work he's done at Selwyn overall.Parent Review1mo ago
