Read what parents are saying about Victor High Hexter Elementary SchoolNot wild about this school at all. We transferred back to our home school (Hexter) not impressed with the environment. I can’t explain it but it feels low budget and meh. Really wanted to like this school since it is right by our house but not impressed. We are looking for other options.

Posted by a community member on 2/4/2024Living in OLH for 10 years across from Hexter Elementary, we watched as neighbors how active the school community was, which fits perfectly with the vibe of our neighborhood. Our daughter began Kindergarten in August of 2020, and we have been very pleased with our holistic experience at Hexter Elementary as parents. The Hexter community is vibrant, the teachers are engaged, and the campus leadership, with Principal Smith leading the way, is phenomenal. The various programs before, during and after school have been fantastic and have provided the right learning opportunities for our student! Hexter historically continues to have a thriving Parent Teacher Association, raising funds to support a variety of opportunities for our diverse student population and families. We highly recommend Hexter Elementary School!
Posted by a parent on 11/2/2023Hexter is amazing community school. My daughter began in Kindergarten and is now in second grade and is thriving.
Posted by a parent on 11/2/2023My daughter attended this school for 4th and 5th grade after attending a Montessori school since Pre-K. I knew she was bright but because Montessori is "based on the child's readiness" she would often finger knit caps, make great paintings, but had no idea how to really read. That quickly changed once she attended Hexter. We were always told that it can be hard for kids to transition to a "public school" setting because they will be slightly behind but they should be able to make up ground quickly, and trust me she exceeded our expectations. The teachers were very supportive and she was also diagnosed with a mild case of dyslexia and went through the 504 program. She loved her time at Hexter and wished that they went through 8th grade but unfortunately, 5th is their last class. I also loved the fact that the school is very diverse. This is the real world and she has friends from all different walks of life and I think it makes her a more well rounded individual. I would not hesitate to send my child to Hexter if given the opportunity.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWRE is an aesthetically pleasing school that continues to squeak by on it’s past excellent reputation. Dig deeper you will find average (at best) academics, teachers that openly cater to students of the Principals favorite parents, problematic administrative leadership, and the most attention seeking and atrocious parent community. Parents here make the day-to-day volunteering and donating miserable and the overall parental school experience insufferable for the silent majority. Academically - when you look at the testing data and control for economic status, parent education, and race - there is nothing at all to differentiate this school from any other public school in the district or the state. Do not move to the neighborhood for WRE, as so many do (self included), you’ll find yourself disappointed and considering private school.Parent Review5mo ago - Casa View Elementary School

In summary, the experience this year has been discouraging. The school requires a comprehensive restructuring of the staff. While there are exceptions among the faculty, with dedicated and empathetic people, these are the minority.Other Review4w ago - Reinhardt Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur child LOVES her school, and we do to! This hidden gem is tucked away in East Dallas between Casa Linda and Casa View shopping centers and has a top safety rating in the district, has faculty and staff that truly cares about their students, has a dedicated and wonderful special education team (we know!) that collaborates with families and faculty to ensure the needs are met, teachers have great communication with parents, and so much more. This campus is doing great things. And - as it becomes a school of choice as a personalized learning campus, its only getting better and being able to meet my child where they are and launch them ahead in a way that they feel they have a voice in their education. We love this campus, and we think you will too!Other Review3mo ago - Highland Meadows Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThankfully Principal Bahena was fired mid school year last year after spring break she was gone. The school under her leadership went from a B average rating under Principal Davis leadership to an F rating 59 out of 100 with Bahena.Lack of experience and unprofessional with low ethics in Stolen Valor claiming Veteran status whilst she had never even completed bootcamp. FYI: High School ROTC does not qualify as VETERAN status. With Bahena at the helm Highland Meadows received the low performance underachieving letter/status allowing any student the opportunity to transfer to other schools to jump ship from that disaster.Parent Review8mo ago - St. John's Episcopal School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have a Kindergartener at St. John's and have been blown away by our experience. Her teachers are phenomenal, the things they are learning are far ahead of typical kindergarten classrooms, and the families are so wonderful. They take their values very seriously and infuse them into their day-to-day activities. There is a huge emphasis on integrity and kindness over popularity. Each child's unique talents are emphasized and their low student to teacher ratios allow individual attention for each child. Sending our children to St. John's is a privilege and honor!Parent Review5mo ago
