Even the teachers around her looked in disbelief. When I made eye contact through my vehicle (we aren't allowed to exit), she rolled her eyes at me. I helplessly watched as my child hung his head and shuffled his feet through the doorway. I parked and entered the office. The principal told me she didn't have time to talk to me because she needed "to pull like 11 kids" to help with last minute tutoring. She called me hours later to inform me that she reviewed video (with no audio) and found no evidence that the teacher had screamed, and only "pivoted abruptly toward" my child... -_-... but then said that if a child is behaving in an unsafe manner (speed walking?) that any staff member is justified in screaming at them and using other means to stop that behavior. Aside from that gem, I've had a problem with bullying. Just make sure your children don't have unusual hair styles or wear the same-colored pants two days in a row, or they'll be the laughingstock of the school. Better yet, don't let your 5-year-old son have shoulder-length hair or he'll have 10-year-olds asking him what his genitals look like. On to academics! My children (K and 2) have had consistently dropping test scores. When I asked one of their teachers how to help them close the gap and mend their tattered confidence, she sent home Special Education paperwork and hasn't responded to me. I don't blame her for being overwhelmed and giving up on my child, as I've seen the utter chaos in the classroom. But my children were actually top of their classes at their previous school, which was rated 8/10. We only moved here because I'm in graduate school, and I feel so guilty. If you want your child to be safe from bullies (students and staff) and actually learn how to pass tests without last minute cheap tricks, don't send them here. I'm taking out loans to move out of district and save my children. DO NOT MAKE MY MISTAKE. It'll take years for them to heal and get back to where they were before coming here.Parent Review4y ago1 Reviews - Johnson Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am extremely disappointed with this school especially coming from Southwood Valley. The teachers here seem to be sweet and caring but for some reason my child is always in trouble for something even little things I personally wouldn't get onto him about. They worry about the wrong things in the teaching aspect and I honestly feel like unless your child has the curriculum already down they are going to have a hard time. Julie Harris is the math teacher and doesn't seem to take the time to teach them properly and just finds everything with the child and their learning abilities to be wrong. The bullying and poor behavior seems to be ok for some children but wrong for others as well. If I could I'd give zero stars for this school and would never recommend this school to anyone.Parent Review1y ago6 Reviews - South Knoll Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThrilled with 1st & 2nd grade! My daughter began first grade here. She went to Preschool and Kindergarten in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg with all instruction in Luxembourgish. Before that she did preschool in Santa Barbara with English instruction. Because of the differences in academics, I was afraid my daughter would have a had time adjusting. Beginning 1st grade, my daughter did not read (they begin reading in 1st grade in Luxembourg - in German) but by the end of year she was reading third grade level! Miss O'Connor is PHENOMENAL!! She was patient and gave progressively challenging material throughout the year. It worked! My daughter is in 2nd grade now, currently reading the final Harry Potter book. She is in the Chess Club, a component of the Gifted and Talented Program (G/T) that also offers a Math Enrichment one day a week, along with other activities to supplement learning for those in the G/T Program. Her teacher this year, Mrs. Welch, is AMAZING with the kids! A group in the class reads beyond their current grade level, so she has given this group advanced chapter books to keep them challenged. We're moving to Dallas next year. We will miss these OUTSTANDING teachers.Parent Review12y ago3 Reviews - Southwood Valley Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAggieland Country School is by far the BEST school! Each and every one of the teachers is kind, loving, knowledgeable, supportive and extremely professional. I highly recommend them to anyone considering a private school education for their child. They are the OLDEST and BEST Montessori school in Aggieland and one of the best in the country. My family has traveled a lot and I can attest that this school is a TRUE Montessori. Your child/children will EXCEL here and it is worth every penny! The director is the kindest, most amazing educator (and person) and you cannot find anyone more qualified as she has a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M! I cannot say enough about how truly WONDERFUL this gem of a school is to the community!Parent Review1y ago5 Reviews - Oakwell Academy
