North Joshua Elementary School

Wow! What an incredible school. My son is in Kindergarten here and every single person we've encountered - from teachers, to counselors, to the nurse the principal, the front office, and education aides - has been truly committed to supporting the children. The older children smile and wave when they walk past the grown ups. It is a magical place, both in terms of the physical space and the overall vibe. They really are living their values and the kids here are fortunate to learn and grow in an environment that appreciates SEL as much as academic progress (and understands they are two sides of the same coin). We couldn't be happier or more grateful about our decision to send our son here.

This is the first year my daughter has gone to this school. So for a child, being the new kid is hard enough but, on top of it she started being bullied by another group of students starting from DAY TWO. Just like the other review states, I have gone to the teachers and have been told “I don’t hear anything” or “she needs to be the one to report it” . They won’t even listen unless the student comes forward immediately and even after that, I’m told “we will just move seats”. It is now towards the end of the year and my daughter continues to come home upset daily. Secondly, the teachers my daughter has are really no different than the students (in regards to how they treat her). They have no problem singling her out, YELLING at her in front of her peers and saying very unprofessional personal things to her. I have requested an in person parent/teacher conference (in regards to academics and classroom behavior) since September and have been told by the teacher that they will only do a phone call. Which has yet to happen. My daughter has never missed a day of school for anything other than true illness. She actually wakes up in the morning complaining that her stomach is twisting. This is now effecting her physically as well as emotionally. On top of everything else, they only get 1 recess during a long day and if they do anything out of the norm (minor kid stuff) they loose their recess. I want my daughter to enjoy school and be a kid as long as she can. These teachers need to be held accountable PERIOD.I can’t wait for this school year to be over AND THATS PRETTY SAD

This school district discriminates against Hispanics. They moved my student from the bus schedule just because two other children are new to the bus. When my student should have priority because he started school on time. It is assumed that if there are going to be new children on the bus, they have to pick them up early. It is not fair that after they picked him up at 7 a.m. NOW they changed the schedule at 6:10 A.M because the manager does not want to follow the rules LIKE IS SUPPOSED TO BE…at the last minute they want to pick my student up at 6:10 a.m. It is ridiculous and it is not fair. White people have preference in this school. We are Hispanic and I hate to say this, but this Joshua district discriminates against Hispanics.

I am a public school teacher, but I have always enrolled my children in JAMS until this year. My daughter is enrolled in a public middle school and very frustrated with the lack of academic and social opportunities she is used to having at JAMS.

This is my daughters 2nd year at JCA. The staff is amazing, understanding and works with parents to further education. The curriculum is top notch.
