Cunningham has amazing teachers and small class sizes. Both the teachers are other students at school functions always seem so positive and accepting of everyone. Both my kids had amazing experiences and Cunningham for the last 4 years.The PEAS garden/farm is an awesome opportunity for learning and life-experience. The PTA is engaged and does a lot for school activities.

The 5th grade teacher Gigioloti-Barton is a professional bully! You can tell she knows how to manipulate people and get away with it!

Patton Elementary is an incredible school that has grown and evolved significantly over the years, becoming a cornerstone of West Oak Hill’s rapidly improving community. Over the last two years, I’ve witnessed a shift in teacher engagement and dedication. The faculty here go above and beyond, fostering an environment where students not only learn but thrive. The curriculum is innovative and enriching, tailored to encourage curiosity and critical thinking, which has been a huge draw for families moving into the area. The staff is warm, approachable, and committed to creating a nurturing space for children, ensuring they feel supported every step of the way.What sets Patton apart even more is the changing demographic of West Oak Hill. Over the last two years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting incredible parents who share a passion for education and community building. These connections have been one of the highlights of my time here, and it’s bittersweet now that my son has graduated.Year after year, I’ve seen noticeable progress at Patton. Post-pandemic, the school has made tremendous strides in creating a positive and effective learning environment. From the quality of programs to the upgraded facilities, everything seems to be moving in the right direction. It’s heartening to know that this school is a place where children are encouraged to reach their potential, supported by engaged teachers and like-minded families.If you’re considering West Oak Hill, Patton Elementary is a shining example of why this area is worth investing in. We have enjoyed being a part of the Kocurek community! Given the state of public education and the school's "underperforming" status, I've been impressed with the quality of my daughter's teachers and their advocacy for their students. There are a lot of opportunities for parents to be involved and provide feedback, and it's got a surprisingly active PTA for a title 1 school. Recommend for any South Austin family who values community and diversity.

Our daughter went to Mills for her KG in 2024. The school is great! The staffs are very helpful and kind. We are not sure about her classmates. They were just kids, they always made comments on skin color of our daughter. Someone told her that her skin color is brown as potty. Someone took her coat we never found her coat from the school. We didn't know what happened to her coat. That was one of her favorite coats. We complained about all to her class teacher but we didn't know she did anything or not. Our daughter likes to go to school very much from beginning of her school life. Last year she didn't want to go to school anymore. I stopped to mail her teacher anymore about these. Because I thought she might think I am "making complaint about everything type mom". We told our daughter to stay low not to react or what else we could do. Our daughter was so sad to hear comments about her skin color specially. She never experienced this before as we moved from different state. She didn't like that school much neither did we.Skin color comments are really horrible and that makes kid very uncomfortable. She always asked me at that time why aren't all have same skin color? We were in rent at that time we moved after her KG and bought a home in different area.We went for Mills seeing it's reviews as moved from different state but didn't workout for us or rather for our daughter. We don't want to let any other kids to experience this like our daughter.Thank you.

This school is amazing! The teachers are very kind, supportive, and attentive of their students. I was in Casey from Pre-K 4 to 5th grade. There is also a lot of family engagement like PTA. They also encourage the kids to read by giving them rewards. The students are amazing, the teachers and office workers are amazing, and the staff is amazing. 10/10 experience. 100% recommend this school!

The teachers are dedicated and kind. The school seems stretched thin with teachers needing to fund supplies, books, and other resources.Our daughter has flourished at Cowan and developed social skills alongside her educational growth. My biggest desire for improvement is with the arts. There isn’t an intentional music program. My daughter had one play in second grade but it was written and organized by a second grade teacher as a labor of love. There are so many children in each class it does seem like the focus goes to areas of concern. We haven’t had a parent/teacher conference in a couple of years because she’s doing great. I wish I better understood her untapped potential and how she could continue to grow even if it meant outpacing classmates. (We don’t have experience with the special education programs, so our rating is neutral.)
