Read what parents are saying about Carol Holt Elementary SchoolI have been nothing but happy with the education my child has received at Holt. She has dyslexia and her teacher brought her concerns to my attention, she was tested, and now receives supports from the amazing reading specialist. Mrs. Foster, the principal, loves her students and stands at the front door to greet them everyday with a hug and smile. There are many engaging activities for families and ways to be involved. It really is a great place to be!
Posted by a parent on 5/4/2023I've had two boys at this school. The principal is Ms. Foster, but she does not really do much to ensure the safety of students or quality of education. There is no homework. Teachers do not consistently respond to parental concerns. Both my sons aced all their work and were bored, so my wife volunteered at the school to see if she could influence the culture to provide additional challenge and stimulation toward learning. One of my children has dyslexia, and it was not recognized or appropriately treated by the school until he graduated out to 5th grade. I would like to walk or ride bicycles to school to be more environmentally conscious, but the school administration actively discourages this in theory and in practice. One day when I went to pick up my 2nd-grade son from school as a walker (as opposed to car rider), the school had released him before I arrived and an art teacher had sent him off campus without a parent to accompany him--in the wrong direction! Unsafe, unprofessional, and a poor investment of tax payer dollars. In principle I am a supporter of public schools--but my kids will not be attending MISD schools next year.

Posted by a parent on 1/27/2022My oldest child attended Holt and had wonderful teachers and a great experience. My second child is in his third year at Holt and we have been very pleased with all of his teachers. I love the office staff, the nurses, the teachers have all been very caring and helpful if I ever have a concern. We have made some very good friends and my son enjoys going to school each day. We have not had an issue with bullying so far.
Posted by a parent on 8/11/2017My daughter attended this school in 2016-2017 school year and has a learning disability. She formed a bond with her teacher and with the development staff at the school that was unmatched. She really loved her teacher. The curriculum is more advanced than other schools in the district and I was made aware of this when my daughter first began here. Overall I give a good rating.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI don’t recommend this school to anyone. Most of the teachers don’t care about the students. Not only the students , teachers bully other students as well. Students are so behind at reading, writing and math, if not, they will by end of the year! Please do your research and register you students in another school.Parent Review1y ago - Nancy Neal Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSPED teacher Ms. Johnson is amazing. Our family feels privileged to be in her class. Principal Prange is very informative and personable with Students, teachers, and families. A 6 rating is low for this school and should be re calculated. The Special ed dept. could be, has the potential to be exceptional. However, that is a state funding issue not school.Parent Review1y ago - St Paul's Preparatory Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved to the area last year from out of state. My husband grew up less than a mile from the school so it was a no brained. The administrative staff is exceptionally helpful and always kind. We started our son in the summer camp so he could begin to make friends and become familiar with his new school while in a more casual setting. It was a great experience. He can be high energy, because of this he can also be disruptive. His teacher was attentive, patient, and solution oriented to help our guy find the best path to gain focus and express his energy in a positive manner. We worked together well to guide him to be the best student and person he could/can be. The curriculum, creative activities, and faith base teachings are what we expected. We are pleased that he’s learning a second language, cursive, and offered the opportunity for extracurricular classes like piano. Tuition fee and uniform costs are affordable and fair. We love that our guy is not just a number in a large student population. When our guy is walking the halls or participating in after school events/athletic games, students and teachers alike know him/us by name. It makes him feel great and apart of a great community. We look forward to another year at St. Paul’s after a second great experience at their summer camp. Our kiddo can’t wait (how many can say that?!) to start class next week.Parent Review1y ago - Arlington Faith Academy
