Read what parents are saying about Thurgood Marshall Middle SchoolMy experience with Marshall has been a great one. My daughter attended 5-8th grade and she made many Gaines while being a student here. She participated in sports and even as a student with a disability she was able to balance sports and her studies. Her teachers worked well with her and provided her with the type of classroom experience that she needed and felt comfortable with. She is now in high school outside of the South East Quadrant but I know Marshall equipped her for HS.
Posted by a community member on 8/27/2023Teachers talk about students with other students, the principal doesn't take any action. The executive administration let's bullying and bias run unchecked and test scores are the lowest in the district. Stay away.
Posted by a parent on 2/8/2023I had 2 kids attend Marshall. One child with Asperger and ADHD. The teachers were helpful with us starting her IEP. We had multiple conferences. Her teachers would keep us informed via email and work with her quirks. The principal is phenomenal. I had never meet him before and he stopped me at a school event and said "You are "kid's" mom, aren't you?" He is very involved with the students and faculty. The other assistant principals are involved as well. They have multiple events for the children and opportunities for parents to keep involved. We were worried because we heard a lot of bad things about Metro Schools but Marshall is an excellent choice. Give public schools a chance and get involved!
Posted by a parent on 5/24/2018My kids love this school for the most part. Faculty and staff seem to genuinely care for the kids. Both my kids get excellent grades. My son did have a small issue as he was targeted by a bully but the actions taken by the school were excellent. The principal and his staff did an excellent job handling the situation and worked with my wife and I to get my son into a different class. Since then he has excelled and actually looks forward to school. Some policies are a little overbearing. Like the anti-fighting one. The whole grade is punished for just the actions of a couple of students. But overall excellent school.
Posted by a parent on 4/28/2017The principal and most of his staff members display characteristics of extreme immaturity. What's presented to the parents and public is very inaccurate. This school is not to be taken at face value. My 7 years of experience at this school has unfortunately been very disappointing. There is an extreme lack of adult leadership and the students have little to no positive role models. The lack of good character and maturity shown by the administrative staff is very concerning. Our children in the Antioch/Caneridge community deserve much better. A great school should not only supply a great education, but it should also demonstrate maturity, professionalism, good character and hold themselves to a very high standard. Which unfortunately Thurgood Marshall Middle Prep is severely lacking.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended Henry Maxwell during his 4th grade year when we moved to Nashville. We were concerned as everyone states that all Metro Schools are bad. However, we had a great experience. My son liked his teachers. Teachers kept in contact with parents. The PTO planned fun activities for the kiddos. He rode the school bus with minor issues that all kids have. Great School. Give it a chance. 1 thing that all good schools have in common is involved parents!Parent Review5y ago - May Werthan Shayne Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe bus system is ridiculous at this school. I never know when the 1st grade school bus is coming. It just comes when it wants too. This has to stop. I can’t just sit out there playing the guessing game when I have to work also.Parent Review1y ago - A. Z. Kelley Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA.Z.Kelley is an amazing school! Teachers are wonderfull! My daughters have been attending this school for a year and they love it. They have been learned so many things here. My first daughter got a chance to test for the Talented and Gifted class. I always see the police officer on site at arrival and dismissal which make me feel safe. They have family events and teachers are always smiling and greeting to everyone. I love A.Z.Kelley's teachers!Parent Review10mo ago - Ezell-Harding Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageExactly what we prayed for! I needed a school that would care about my nephew-son's whole being. The school leadership, teachers, and staff are top notched. Ezell has great communication with parents and several of opportunities for students to grow academically, spiritually, and athletically. I loved that my child was not just a number. He was seen. The environment of the school felt like a family, and they took excellent care of him. His core classes stretched him and pushed him to be his best. His bible class challenged him and helped him grow to be a better young man. His time on both the football and basketball team provided the additional discipline and responsibility that helped continue to develop his character. From that first day of school hug with Mrs. B to being 12 days from graduation we have been extremely blessed to be a part of the Ezell Harding family. My nephew is on his way to a fantastic future having earned an academic scholarship to college, and big part of that is the education, care, and environment Ezell Harding provided.Parent Review11mo ago - Lighthouse Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHaven't been any happier with a school. The most amazing teachers that just loves, and cares for your child. They love teaching and it shows when the child runs into the classroom every morning or talks about school on the weekend. My youngest was struggling in so many things at the beginning of the year, with behavior and what she knew, to now knowing so many things I didn't even know she would learn and her behavior has done so much better. This school gotes above and beyond to keep the children to want to learn, and get closer with God. Really wouldn't recommend any other place but this one <3Parent Review9mo ago - Cane Ridge Elementary School
