Read what parents are saying about May Werthan Shayne Elementary SchoolThe bus system is ridiculous at this school. I never know when the 1st grade school bus is coming. It just comes when it wants too. This has to stop. I can’t just sit out there playing the guessing game when I have to work also.
Posted by a parent on 1/9/2023My experience with this school has been excellent. The teachers and staff work hard to get to know every student. Students are treated with kindness and respect, and I am impressed every day with what my child is learning.
Posted by a parent on 4/15/2019Not very good. Out of 4 1/2 years at Shayne, we've had 2 really good years.

Posted by a community member on 3/19/2018This is our son's 5th year at Shayne & our daughter's second. We LOVE THIS SCHOOL! Most of the teachers we have had have been excellent, the parent communication is great & the principal is outstanding. We love how diverse the student population is, and how much the teachers pour into their students. We highly recommend this school!

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school has gone down hill over the past 3 years my children have attended. From bullying and giving the bullies a slap on the wrist to disorganization at dismissal. My son had his first worst experience as a prek student where the front office made him throw away his breakfast as soon as he walked in because it wasn’t in a bag.. I get that part, BUT she seen when I dropped off my children his food was visible 100%. She could have told me he had to finish it outside because I would gladly waited, I’m a SAHM and I wasn’t in a rush to go anywhere. My other child has been bullied left and right and the teachers and staff would just say “we talked to all the kids and reminded them of treating each other with respect..”. I had an incident where they didn’t put one of my kids on the bus and they lied and blamed a late bus arrival to their school. I immediately called them out and told them how is that possible when my other child is already home? They had no response. Their communication is disappointing. No one is allowed to bring outside food/water once the child walks into their building. In a rush kids forget their lunches sometimes, we’ve all been there. I’d try bringing it back to the school and I was told I couldn’t. The principal again decided he knows what’s best for MY KIDS and said they’ll eat what serve. Excuse me? Who are you to tell me what MY KIDS will and will not eat? I know they likes/dislikes, that’s the whole reason they bring a packed lunch. We’re not allowed to bring in birthday treats either. Since when does school feel like a prison? No fun, no excitement, NOTHING.Parent Review10mo ago - Henry Maxwell Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended Henry Maxwell during his 4th grade year when we moved to Nashville. We were concerned as everyone states that all Metro Schools are bad. However, we had a great experience. My son liked his teachers. Teachers kept in contact with parents. The PTO planned fun activities for the kiddos. He rode the school bus with minor issues that all kids have. Great School. Give it a chance. 1 thing that all good schools have in common is involved parents!Parent Review5y ago - A. Z. 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageA.Z.Kelley is an amazing school! Teachers are wonderfull! My daughters have been attending this school for a year and they love it. They have been learned so many things here. My first daughter got a chance to test for the Talented and Gifted class. I always see the police officer on site at arrival and dismissal which make me feel safe. They have family events and teachers are always smiling and greeting to everyone. I love A.Z.Kelley's teachers!Parent Review9mo ago - Montessori Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a parent of two children that attend this school, and I could not recommend it enough. I will admit that I am someone who was completely new to the idea of Montessori when I came here. But now that I’ve been able to see my kids start to go through it, I could not imagine a better environment for my kids. I have also been following a lot of recent studies pertaining to pre-k programs as that is the age of my youngest. It’s been awesome to see that what these studies have been talking about is that approaches like Montessori have lead to much more successful futures. It’s just so well rounded and I feel like my kids will be better human beings. I mean my 2yr old clears his own plate at dinner now so I’m sold. And just on a general note, it’s a beautiful environment, the play areas and accessible outside space is tremendous. The teachers are wonderful, and extremely experienced. And communication has been top notch across the board, especially in light of all that has been going on the last few years. At the end of the day my kids are super happy and are learning a lot. HIGHLY RECOMMENDParent Review2y ago
