Read what parents are saying about Dexter Elementary SchoolMy son goes to Dexter since Pre-k and he loves it, his teachers have done a great job, he is learning so fast even though he’s bilingual , and all of his teachers have been friendly and easy to communicate, I recommend this school even the front desk people are nice and helpful.
Posted by a parent on 11/27/2023No structure and not enough caring teaching.
Posted by a parent on 3/2/2023Moved and my daughter had to transferred to this school. She hates it, so do I. She’s literally in tears every morning when it’s time to drop her off. I have not had any communication with her homeroom teacher or any teacher for that matter. She transferred around October and I never received a welcome packet or a car rider number after asking numerous of times. No classroom newsletter to let me know what they are learning in class. They just throw a worksheet in backpack for homework with no instructions. 3rd grade is suppose to be a fun experience. No class projects or book reports has never been assigned. She has experience bullying and nothing was done about it. My daughter knows how to stand up for self but she should be focused on learning only! Teachers stand outside during drop off and pick up just starring at you all crazy instead of help assisting your child out of the car. In past elementary schools, the teachers at least say good morning and come to your car door to help the students out of the car. So now that we got through this school year she will not be returning to Dexter or any other Shelby County school. My daughter has been to school in a whole another state and the learning experience was vastly different.
Posted by a parent on 5/17/2022Some of the teachers are incompetent. Don’t register your child at this school.
Posted by a parent on 6/29/2019I was a bit hesitant, because of the reviews, but it's really been great. I've built rapport with everyone from the office staff to the car rider line! They really do care and are working to incorporate more student activities and recognize the students for their great work, but parents, they need you! Please find out how you can volunteer at your child's school. Don't expect them to do all of the work, take part in this process

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSt. Ann has been a wonderful place for my child to go to school. From homerooms to specials, teachers and office workers have been doing a great job from home. They’ve made it easy, in a tough time. Says a lot about the school!Parent Review4y ago - Immanuel Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageILS is our home away from home for our grandchildren. Our granddaughters have attended since PK4 and PK3. They are now in 6th and 3rd grade. They are second generation as their father attended! The classes are small enough that they get the attention they need to be successful!I am blessed that they get to learn about Jesus and build their faith in a safe, loving environment!Parent Review7mo ago - Trafalgar Village Baptist DC/Kindergarten

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school is, on the whole, a good experience. The campus is beautiful and open, and the school has something for everyone. After school clubs and sports help students to be more well rounded and focus on their interests, while classes in school hammer down fundamentals of their class. However, it does suffer from a few problems, specifically in academics. It can feel at times like athletics are almost a priority, while academics sit on the backburner in most situations. As a middle schooler in honors classes, some classes haven’t been a challenge for me, even some of the honors classes. That isn’t to say that they’ve been easy, and I’ve been able to breeze past every class, but some specific classes don’t feel like they are giving an adequate amount of instruction for the grade level. Some positives are in the academics, such as the rotating schedule, which may be hard to grasp at first. However, it does help to combat feelings of repetition by changing the order of classes every day. The teachers seem to care about their work, and teachers help students that may be lost in the material and/or confused. No one should fail a class unless they are not putting in effort to the class. The headmaster, Braxton Brady, is the best headmaster I could ask for. He continually prioritizes the students wellbeing while still making sure that they are achieving in school. However, the school has continually proven to be run “loosely.” (Mr. Brady excluded) Events and important dates are constantly changing, and it can be hard to know what is happening at school, especially for parents. The school has no problem of serious bullying, and everyone will find at least one friend. There is no problem of physical violence if students act with more than one brain cell, and continued physical violence has not happened whatsoever in school. No teacher will ever turn a blind eye to bullying if they are aware that it is happening. I may have focused on the negatives, but that isn’t to say that the school is in shambles. I would recommend it to anyone whose children might be an average kid. It has plenty of opportunities outside of the base curriculum, and it helps students find and stoke their interests. 4/5Student Review9mo ago - Harding Academy Sycamore View
