Read what parents are saying about Sumner AcademyMy children have been attending Sumner Academy since 2019, and we could not be happier. All the teachers are loving and invested in developing my children into good people and ensuring they are academically prepared for their future. The campus is small and welcoming and there are many events and traditions families get to participate in. It is truly a partnership between the school and our family, and we could not be happier for our kids!
Posted by a parent on 7/26/2023we have had an amazing experience here for the last 3 years- we came from the East Coast at a private school and this school is a huge improvement over that school in every way.
Posted by a parent on 2/18/2020My child is a thoughtful and very bright young man. The environment has been nurturing while also intellectually rigorous. There is a great school community and an inspired faculty.
Posted by a community member on 10/24/2016Not only is Sumner Academy providing an incredible educational experience for all three of our children (14, 12 and 8), they are also helping them to develop life skills and independence that will carry them into the future. We can't possibly say enough good things about this school and the community of teachers and staff. One of the few places (after extensive searching) that offers a nurturing place for for all children to thrive and grow. Once you start here, your only regret will be that you hadn't found it sooner! A true gem.
Posted by a parent on 3/4/2015My two sons are currently in first and fourth grade at Sumner Academy. We transferred in last year and couldn t be happier with our choice. My kids are excited to go to school most days and miss it during their breaks. The teachers are passionate, communicative, and supportive of my children, and their genuine affection is obvious to both my kids and myself. They manage to combine a rigorous academic pace with support and fun, which creates a challenging but not overly stressful experience for the students. My kids enjoy the many hands-on projects, learning games, and small rewards for individual and class accomplishments. P.E. everyday is a big plus for me, as are the brief walks outside between classes to stretch the legs, relax the mind, and chat with friends. My younger son is very physically active with an exuberant yet sensitive personality, while my older son is more reserved and cautious in new situations. The teachers and staff truly value each of my children s strengths and personalities, and support them in their differing academic and social styles. Both boys are thriving at Sumner Academy, which means my search for the right school for our family is done.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI've taught at 4 elementary schools over the past 29 years, and Union is hands down the best. The teachers here put in long hours, meticulously planning to best meet the needs of all of our students. Every teacher collaborates with their grade level team to share ideas and learn from one another. The staff truly cares about each other and our students. We have a strong PTO that supports both the staff and the children. Union has received numerous awards for volunteerism in the community. There are many programs in place to recognize, encourage, and support students such as advocacy groups, house systems, students of the month, care teams, free tutoring, and academic / behavior award programs. My own children were educated at Union and absolutely loved it. I've taught here for the last 20 years of my 29 year career and wouldn't want to be anywhere else.Teacher Review1y ago - St John Vianney Catholic School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average10 out of 10! Wonderful school with dedicated, loving and amazingly intelligent faculty. There is a focus on education and there is homework - you definitely get what you pay for. If you value your child's sports activities over homework each week, you may want to look elsewhere (however, my children are very active & we seem to balance both). I want my children to be challenged and I want them to be prepared for private high school and their test scores are showing we are on the right track. There is also a sense of community as every family knows each other. As my children are being well educated, I know that they are also happy, safe and part of something good. Parent involvement is key - the more you participate, the more you and your family get out of the experience. We are not Catholic but chose SJV because of the small class size, their focus on education, and the friendly community environment.Parent Review6y ago
