Read what parents are saying about Sumter HighI wish I sent my child to another school.Questioning an instructor about my child’s work or grades is often considered as confrontational or reprisal towards my child in class. Teachers dont keep confidences as requested by parents in discussing email parent/teacher correspondence. It’s discussed with student even though parent asked it be keep confidential and not discussed with child.
Posted by a parent on 2/4/2020I agree with the parent post Nov 2012. We are actually new to Sumter and had lived around the globe and from my experience Sumter HS is by far one of the Worse experiences! The overall education level in Sumter appears lower than many other places. Many of the teachers my children had to endure at Sumter HS are totally unprofessional! Sadly we are here due to military purposes otherwise I would never consider such a down grade! Can't wait to leave this school system and the city. Children definitely DESERVE better than what is being offered. Good luck to the locals!
Posted by a parent on 11/5/2013For those parents who have never lived outside of Sumter, this school may be what they think as good. Having lived in other areas around the US, I can tell you that it is very weak in many areas from my observations. On the few times I have come to visit the office, I have seen students wandering aimlessly in the halls and witnessed horrible behavior and profanity right in front of the office personnel with absolutely nothing said to the students! If there were a better option for my son, I would take it without thinking twice.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur family is so glad we found this school when deciding whether to move to Sumter for work - we would not have moved to Sumter if our children could not attend Wilson Hall. We appreciate the Christian environment, the sense of camaraderie, and the outstanding academic program. The faculty and administration are top notch - the best we have encountered after many schools due to moving with the military. My children are able to participate in many different activities (quiz bowl, theater, football, tennis, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, debate, soccer) and have had the opportunity to develop their leadership skills while developing relationships with classmates and faculty. Wilson Hall is very welcoming to new students and my children easily found a group of good friends, as did my wife and I - it really is like a big family. We could not be more pleased with the school and feel it is worth every penny we spend on tuition!Parent Review2y ago - Westside Christian Academy

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have two children that attended Alice Drive Elementary School. Every teacher they had were fantastic. The school recently received a STEM accreditation. The students collaborate on group projects frequently and the teachers development engaging lessons. The administrators are approachable and always willing to help.Parent Review2y ago - Millwood Elementary

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOutstanding school for the area! Principal and teachers are excellent and discipline is great! My son is a non-native english speaker, and the Teachers and principal were VERY good with his english. He is scoring higher in math and can read at a (Scholastic Book)Level 3 by the end of his kindergarten year. Very military friendly with a great Veterans day tribute that all classes participate in! The bus commute can be tough for younger kids (30 min) but it has not been a huge problem. I was initially dubious due to past performance on the standardized testing, but for AY 11-12, Wilder was highest in the district. Dont believe the "other school hype" That was 5-10 years ago. Wilder is Soaring!Parent Review10y ago - Kingsbury Elementary
