Read what parents are saying about Stony Brook El SchoolThis school educationally speaking is great, and when my daughter went for Kindergarten we had an amazing teacher who kept frequent contact with me which I absolutly LOVED!! However, when she went to first grade, the teacher never had contact with me and nobody told me she was struggeling until half way into the school year, so now she is repating first grade due to lack of care by her teacher to inform me. The building is really nice, they incorporate technology into the education, which I like, and the principal Mr.Billet is a good principal. I was very dissapointed with the way last year went, and am upset that she has to repeat her grade due to a lack of caring, motivation, or to at least inform me. Her kindergarten teacher sent home weekly logs about what she was learning, therefore I could incorporate it at home, where as her with first grade teacher I had no idea about what she was doing or learning. I went in and called the school numerous times, never with any luck (She was not there). I have mixed feelings about the school, the school would be perfect if all her teachers could be like Mrs.Ness, she was absolutly FANTASTIC!!

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI cannot give enough positive feedback for MCHY. This school has made such a positive impact in both of my children's lives, both academically and in their character. I have never met a group of teachers more committed to working with students to help them succeed, no matter what the challenge. The individualized education of each student is like no other school I have ever seen.Parent Review4y ago - St Joseph School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a concerned parent, I feel compelled to share my deeply frustrating and disheartening experience with St. Joseph School. Despite its reputation as an institution of learning and faith based values. I have encountered an alarming lack of communication and limited teacher accountability that has left me deeply disappointed and concerned for my child's education. One of the most glaring issues I have encountered at St. Joseph York is the disrespect, lack of compassion and harsh environment that has stripped my child of joy. It is as if the Mrs. Eck operates within her own bubble, oblivious to the concerns and inquiries of the families entrusting their children's education to their care. Phone calls and emails often go unanswered for days, if not weeks, leaving parents in a constant state of uncertainty and frustration. When attempting to address issues with individual teachers, the lack of accountability becomes even more apparent. My attempts to have meaningful conversations with teachers about my child's progress, academic challenges, or even simple questions about assignments have been met with apathy and indifference. It seems that teachers at St. Joseph School are reluctant to engage in constructive dialogue with parents, failing to understand that collaboration between home and school is essential for a student's success. Moreover, the limited teacher/leadership accountability at St. Joseph School is disconcerting. When problems arise, teachers often deflect responsibility or are quick to dismiss legitimate concerns. It is as if they are immune to any form of critique, and any attempts to hold them accountable are met with defensiveness and resistance. This lack of accountability not only hampers the growth and development of our children but also fosters an environment of mediocrity, where excellence and improvement take a back seat. Furthermore, the school's lackluster response to addressing these issues is deeply concerning. Despite numerous complaints from parents and an apparent awareness of the communication and accountability problems, the administration seems content with maintaining the status quo. Their failure to take decisive action and implement necessary changes demonstrates a lack of dedication to the well-being and academic success of the students. I would HIGHLY recommend looking at another option for your child.Parent Review3mo ago
