As a concerned parent, I feel compelled to share my deeply frustrating and disheartening experience with St. Joseph School. Despite its reputation as an institution of learning and faith based values. I have encountered an alarming lack of communication and limited teacher accountability that has left me deeply disappointed and concerned for my child's education. One of the most glaring issues I have encountered at St. Joseph York is the disrespect, lack of compassion and harsh environment that has stripped my child of joy. It is as if the Mrs. Eck operates within her own bubble, oblivious to the concerns and inquiries of the families entrusting their children's education to their care. Phone calls and emails often go unanswered for days, if not weeks, leaving parents in a constant state of uncertainty and frustration. When attempting to address issues with individual teachers, the lack of accountability becomes even more apparent. My attempts to have meaningful conversations with teachers about my child's progress, academic challenges, or even simple questions about assignments have been met with apathy and indifference. It seems that teachers at St. Joseph School are reluctant to engage in constructive dialogue with parents, failing to understand that collaboration between home and school is essential for a student's success. Moreover, the limited teacher/leadership accountability at St. Joseph School is disconcerting. When problems arise, teachers often deflect responsibility or are quick to dismiss legitimate concerns. It is as if they are immune to any form of critique, and any attempts to hold them accountable are met with defensiveness and resistance. This lack of accountability not only hampers the growth and development of our children but also fosters an environment of mediocrity, where excellence and improvement take a back seat. Furthermore, the school's lackluster response to addressing these issues is deeply concerning. Despite numerous complaints from parents and an apparent awareness of the communication and accountability problems, the administration seems content with maintaining the status quo. Their failure to take decisive action and implement necessary changes demonstrates a lack of dedication to the well-being and academic success of the students. I would HIGHLY recommend looking at another option for your child.

I enrolled my kids into St Joe's with great expectation. Unfortunately, they did come close to meeting them. The leadership at this school is awful. Mrs. Eck the principle runs the school like a prison. The kids have no ability to be kids. They are held to an unreasonable standard. The behavior Mrs. Eck and her most of here staff display are far from compassionate and Godly. I advise you to look in to other CATHOLIC school options. Worse case send them to public school. You will be much better off.

As a parish member for the past 20+ years, I truthfully never gave thought to an education for my child that did not include St. Joseph School. I'm so glad we made this choice for our family!

St. Joe’s is a great place for children to succeed academically and foster solid Christian morals. The teachers are very experienced, kind, and joyful influences on the children. The principal Mrs. Eck is excellent. She is a great listener, very professional, and full of wisdom. They now teach Spanish to students, have created enrichment programs, and are always striving for higher academic success. They have a full time nurse, and serve hot breakfast and lunch daily. It feels like such a small community within the school. We love the truly authentic Catholic identity that emphasizes and develops virtue in the children.

Saint Joseph School, York is a fantastic school. It has a strong academic program while also emphasizing Christian values. The teachers support students as needed but also challenge students when ready. Writing is also emphasized. Grammar is taught explicitly. Cursive is also taught in second grade. I love how my children not only have grown academically but have grown in their faith and character while at St. Joseph School.
