Read what parents are saying about Mazama High SchoolI love this school, sometimes I think this school is a little weird and has a lot of rude teachers.
Posted by a student on 1/17/2024We are currently in our second year at Mazama. When we moved here we read the reviews and believed this would be a good school for our child. Our child has attended multiple schools in various states. This is currently our worst experience. The primary focus here is sports and achieving a high graduation rate. When I say a high graduation rate, that does not mean that the students graduating actually meet the standards. Kids that may fail are sometimes given an easier test to get their grades up allowing them to pass a class and eventually graduate. No honors math classes are available. Students who are advanced are just placed in the regular math class. (Henley does offer honors math). Laptops are only issued to students in the STEM&M program, the rest of the students do not get laptops. Other district high schools provide laptops to all their students. The school's post graduation focus seems to be more on going into the trades or the workforce. Homework is pretty much non-existent. I do not believe that these kids are prepared for college. Students don't know how to study for tests, manage time to write papers, read assignments or complete homework. I do not believe the PSAT is offered at this school, so you will need to search around and try to get signed up at another school on your own to participate. The robotics program is one of the highlights, but does have a large time commitment. Review the schools STEM&M and Honors programs to see what is actually required to graduate in these programs. it appears the music program is not supported by school administration. The band and choir programs are currently trying to rebuild. The have a small "0 hour" jazz band (before school starts each day), beginning band and symphonic band. The marching band is more of a pep band that plays in the stands at home games and marches in a couple of parades. The campus is currently open. Students can leave during lunch, but this also allows students from other schools to gain access. Fights are fairly frequent within the building during school hours. The school itself needs some updates. Most of the classrooms are within the interior of a 1960's brick structure offering no natural light. We've never met the principal nor had the opportunity to hear them speak at any school events. The principal should be out front leading the school and change for the better.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have had our children at Hosanna for 10 year. Teachers are excellent. Character and leadership development of students is emphasized. Small class sizes have meant that my children get the individual attention they need to succeed academically. I would highly recommend Hosanna!Parent Review4y ago - The Triad School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe staff and teachers are wonderful. Its a old building with character. Administer lacks the ability to relate to people who do not attend his church. He looks at the school as a ministry not a place for education. I feel that if the volunteer hours were mandatory and you could not buy your way out of helping in the school or with fundraisers there might be more awareness of school life. The lack of consistency when it comes it disciplinary issue is a wide gap. Preferential treatment is given to familes that are in attendance at Bible Baptist Church. I am thoroughly dissapointed that each in case of physical harm is not treated exactly the same. Parents have a tendency to be very discriminatory toward others. The pigmentation of someones skin leads to unnecessary treatment. Gossip and judgement run rampate with many of the groups of parents.I would not call this a school of inclusion.Lack of Diversity is very visible,Parent Review6y ago - Hilltop Christian Academy
