Read what parents are saying about Key Elementary SchoolI honestly do not recommend this school even tho the principle is nice. Its not acceptable for my child to have a sub ALL YEAR for the past 2 years. Im not gonna even talk about teacher turnover. My child cannot read on grade level and their math is several years behind compared to they cousins math who went to College Bound. i am so embarrased that I let my child go to this school. I should've put them in Salk or Carnegie. Do yourself a favor n put your child in Carnegie. My child is a 5th grader so its too late for us and of coarse my child didnt get into a magnet middle school because they are so far behind but suposedly not many 5th graders here even get into a magnet school cuz of they test scores. I am so thankful that my other children got accepted into another elementary school for next year and hopefully will be able to catch up.
Posted by a parent on 3/4/2024This school had very little parent engagement. They do not address bullying, the fighting on the bus, they fights that happen in the playground, both verbal and physical. One of my children was like 2 grade levels behind kids at other schools. I do not understand why the kids at this school are so behind. We got into a lottery school and they have my child on reading and math support and actually bring stuff home so I can help my children. My children are doing much better after leaving this school. Try to get your child into Carnegie or another school. I even talked to other parents, and they felt the same way. Maybe this school used to be good, but it isn't anymore.
Posted by a parent on 2/6/2024This school has been never ending problems since my children have been enrolled. My son attending pre-k was probably the only year we went without any issues- His teacher that year was fantastic. When I try to call and talk to the principal about issues that arise, he is- every single time- "in a meeting and will call me back". This never happens, which in its own is incredibly frustrating. They have boarded my half blind son on a random bus last year and then dropped him off on his own in the middle of a random neighborhood - during this time they were searching for him telling me repeatedly not to call the police, as they would find him. My daughter has been so stressed about homework that she can't sleep - she is SEVEN- and then gets in trouble and has to clean bathrooms because she fell asleep in class. I am pulling my children out of this school immediately, whatever it takes.
Posted by a parent on 8/27/2014I am an elementary principal in Indiana. my grandson is a PreK student in this school. I have visited this school several times as a grandparent. I have been very pleased that they are very child centered and have many programs in place to meet the social and academic needs of students. Teachers are outside of their doors each day greeting students and the principal is highly accessible. My grandson's teacher is extremely approachable and has had a great amount of professional development. She has gone above and beyond to work with my grandson who is the youngest in the class. Children in the school are involved in their school day by raising the flag, being a safety patrol, and hosting special events. The principal is well versed in data and standards based instruction. I see many great happenings taking place at Key Elementary.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have four children and they have all attended Carnegie. I’ve seen many teachers come and go over the years at this school but some core ones have remained and that seems to set a higher bar for new hires compared to most schools. This school attracts good teachers that care about kids. The culture is one of learning and discipline problems and any bullying is addressed swiftly. It really is a peaceful atmosphere for an elementary school and kids who behave are the norm. Kindergarten and first grade teams are phenomenal.Parent Review1y ago - Grimes Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOh camp director/ assistant principle at Salk is terrible and SO RUDE! We had an issue at Summer Camp and she was supposedly a music teacher before becoming admin. I am so sorry but she is not qualified at all to be an assistant principal. She needs experience in a regular classroom. I know TPS is desperate but still..... I am glad that my child goes to a Magnet school and if summer camp fills up at her site again we WILL NOT be back at this school for summer, we will just do something else. This school is run completely differently than the magnet school my child attends and this sort of admin would NEVER fly there with strong parental support!Parent Review1mo ago - Grissom Elementary School
