Read what parents are saying about Kingsgate Elementary SchoolKingsgate is an older school in an aging district of Moore schools. The demographics of the area have continually changed over the last 20 years, as all of OKC has. I've never had a problem with my 3 kids attending this school because the staff has always been good. The only issue I have is that some of the students attending are not being well taken care of at home, leading to behavior issues for the teachers and the other students which inevitably affects their learning. I think the faculty of this school does an excellent job with the cards they are dealt. But it's time for me to move out of the area because of a more steep decline recently.
Posted by a parent on 9/18/2021My children attended Kingsgate and we knew several teachers at the school. Kingsgate has an extremely high turnover rate for its teaching staff. Parents are lied to about the student to teacher ratios. Unquantified teachers are pulled to teach upper grades regularly and without certification to do so. The school is poorly managed and lacks any HR performance matrix’s for staff which leads to biased hiring/firing practices. The administrators husband is on the school board so there is very little checks and balances to management of the school. They hide behind a faux Christianity and claim to be a “school like no other” but lie directly to parents and teaching staff regularly. They place the school and budget needs above the students. I would highly discourage anyone from sending their children to this school.

Posted by a teacher on 7/17/2020My kids went to Kingsgate from 2010 to 2014. We lived in the neighborhood (Kingspark) for 12 years. Our overall experience began a sharp decline after the hire of the current principal Kari Hill. She runs the school like a prison and is insensitive to student needs and disabilities. All of the good teachers have left for Red Oak and Wayland Bonds back in 2015. I would definitely not consider this school to be MPS’s flagship elementary school. I have one child left in elementary and she is now at Sky Ranch and loves it! We couldn’t be happier since leaving Kingsgate.
Posted by a parent on 2/1/2020I'm going to be honest about this school. We lived in Kingspark for 11 years from 2001 to 2012. My family loved our neighborhood and our house but we just moved to get away from Kingsgate. It has deteriorated drastically over the past 5 years. My wife taught there for one year which was a blessing, since she got to see first hand what all was going on inside the school. The neighborhoods that feed into this school have been going downhill for awhile, and the type of kids that go there overall have little to no parental involvement. Discipline is the biggest issue with this school. This is why we pulled our boys out of Kingsgate. My wife has taught for 15 years and her most miserable teaching experience teaching 4th grade because if the discipline issues. There also is barely a PTA and they always have vacant positions begging for parents to get involved. The look of the school is embarrassing, it looks like an OKC school and the district has neglected it for years. If I was a family interested in possibly moving into Kingspark or any other neighborhood that feeds into this once good school, I would steer clear of it. It's a shame but it's not a good school anymore.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to this school and I have to say. This school was amazing, I honestly didn't want to go. When I was at sky ranch, I loved there. The teachers there were amazing. They understood the things I needed help with before I asked for help. Would 100% recommend this school to anyone!Other Review10mo ago - Earlywine Elementary School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school was simply a different and much better place under the previous principal. Since the new principal started a few years ago, ethnic celebrations ceased, communication went downhill and is often stern or negative, and the teaching staff are clearly lowering their standards due to the poor leadership they are forced to work under. Children with disabilities or health conditions should NOT attend this school. There is no school nurse, and the school staff have shown themselves unresponsive and either overmatched or uncaring - again, this is likely due to the example being set by poor leadership. We have had 2 children attend Fisher, our first had a wonderful experience (under the previous principal) and our second child will likely transfer after this year due to poor administration, i.e.: lack of care for our child, excuses, blaming, bullying, acts of racism, and overall sub-par professionalism. This used to be a great school. Such a shame. New principal is in order.Parent Review2mo ago - Prairie Queen Elementary School
