Read what parents are saying about Burroughs Elementary SchoolHorribleThe school is HORRIBLE with handling bullying, racism and more.the amount of times my children have come home telling me there were kids vaping, drinking alcohol amd having there phone out for inappropriate reasons when it’s strictly unallowed is ridiculous not to mention how they aren’t even able to were simple clothing products as in crocs? They take dress code more serious then anything.and their way of handling it is to give the child used clothes from a nurse that haven’t been cleaned in who knows amount of weeks?the food is disgusting.my son even found a fly in his “Mac and cheese” not to mention there “sides” is bread and butter.while they are expected to eat everything with chocolate milk and orange juice.torture.the amount of racist white girls that appropriate culture and are bluntly racist in that school it too much to count.yet they won’t say a word about it.but get mad because a child decided to were flip flops or shorts in the summer?my daughter shouldn’t be surrounded and made insecure by white girls in the school who were given it all.and there way of handling it is by putting the two or more in a room together to explain why they are having problems with each other as if these aren’t unreasonable children were talking about.they are going to lie and act like there ok with each other just to go outside and fight.over what?well sheesh the school wouldn’t know.cause I can bet you those cameras don’t work.even the online system was horrendous forcing them to be up and in classes at 8 as if there a model ready to represent themselves to classmates they age to be with for 9 school years?no.those children aren’t out shooting deers while their camera is off or playing fortnite. and the teachers are SO lazy with keeping their mask off as if it’s the end of the world if they pull it over their nose.they can’t even tell students to keep the mask over their noses.I really do hope there’s much more changes I really do hope they let these children breath.yes they are there to learn but atleast let them make friends for five minutes.oh and cussing?don’t get me started.I better see changes within this school next year or it’s gonna be further then a review because my children shouldn’t be coming home CRYING.

Posted by a parent on 12/29/2018My children have gone to this school since Kindergarten and they have excelled and are now in 5th and 6th grades. They both have 3.7 and 3.8 GPA's all year. It's a good school.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIf I could give it zero stars that's what I would do. My child came to the vice principal about an issue with a teacher. An issue of an adult nature, they conducted a 6 hour investigation and say my child is lying. And now my child is being removed from the school for speaking out! I encourage any parents who have had ANY problems with this school to PLEASE contact the board of education. My child is being vilified and victimized at the same time! PLEASE DON'T BE SILENT! TAKE ACTION!Parent Review1y ago - Keyser Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageEducational quality is extremely disappointing. Writing formats used are abstract (Chicago Style) and not the same as expected by most highly rated colleges and universities (MLA/APA). Teachers do not give students adequate information about what they want them to learn at the time a unit is presented, and then expect them to know everything about it after it is taught in detail. No guided notes or study guides are offered at the beginning of a unit that students can follow along with and that will lay out the important facts and knowledge the student needs to master. These units most often last for several weeks. When teachers do finally hand out the study guides for the unit tests, they are extensive and very general requiring students to memorize every minute detail that was presented in order to barely pass the test. Even after several requests for study guides that are clear and concise with teacher expectations for what is important for students to learn, teachers refuse to provide them. Also, if your child has a disability, please be aware that all accommodations are only given at teachers' discretion per principal permission. Also, there are no special education teachers there to help your child on a daily basis. Finally, teachers are not consistent with posting homework board assignments in a timely fashion so that parents can help their child stay on track. Oftentimes, assignments are not posted until the afternoon of the day they are due or even after they are due. This has not improved even though multiple requests have been made.Other Review1mo ago - Gesu Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter is now two years removed from OLPH after graduating 8th grade. I feel my daughter received a good education that prepared her for high school. As parents what you have to consider is do you want to be involved in your child's school? If you are not a member of OLPH church, or are Catholic, parents and some teachers will look down their noses at you. Me and my wife never felt welcomed there. When we did participate it was made obvious that OLPH parents were the preferred parents and we were the outsiders. If you go to OLPH for church or are Catholic I would surly recommend this school. If the only involvement you want with the school is to drop your child off and pick them up I would surly recommend OLPH. If you want to be involved in your child's school more than that and you and you don't go to OLPH for church, or are Catholic, I would recommend looking at a school more welcoming.Parent Review1y ago
