Posted by a parent on 7/30/2023worst school, filled with bullying, incompetent teachers and counselors, racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia. This is not an exaggeration, going here was the worst part of my middle school life.

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has been at Ivan Green for two years now. We've had wonderful teachers in both kinder and first grade! They're an International Baccalaureate school, participating in the Early Years Programme. It's been an experience, for sure. The staff is wonderful. My biggest complaint isn't necessarily with the school itself, but with the district. My child requires support services and we've been put through the ringer. Denied in kinder with a "reassessment" in June that didn't occur. We are now approaching the end of our first grade year with no progress. Thankfully, we don't have much academic issue, but the need for behavioral and emotional support is not and has not been met. If this changes in an appropriate time, I'd gladly come back and reassess. I graduated from Eastridge, and began my academic career as a 3rd grader at Ivan Green in 1998. 3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is shockingly bad considering that it's k-6. Levels of violence. The principle has a "my hands are tied" approach and problem children fall through the cracks. Much of the teaching staff feel trapped. They're great people, but are permitted no control. Th city of Rochester school district is a disaster and it matches the city it's in. We're trying desperately to escape. 3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs far as the School in general it is the best one my children have attended. Now when it comes to Special Education this school fails 100%. What I have noticed is the children aren't really learning and just get passed from grade to grade just so that the teachers no longer have to deal with them. The teachers will complain and complain until the parent gets tired and either moves the child or contacts the board. As for Special Education in all RCSD, This entire system has failed our children deeply and it is extremely unfortunate to see many children with so much potential and talents go down the drain because this system drops children along the way.
