El Ber Islamic School

My daughter attended this school for Kindergarten and I cannot wait until the school year is over to transfer her out of this school. The teachers lack proper communication and barely send out homework. Overall I do not recommend this school.

Our child has been a part of PS84 since Kindergarten and will be graduating this year. The smaller classroom sizes have given teachers the opportunity to truly focus on each student, which has made a big difference in their success. We’ve loved the strong sense of family and community that PS84 fosters, along with the lasting friendships that have been built over the years. The school’s commitment to social-emotional learning has also been outstanding, helping our child grow not only academically but personally as well.

PS 85Q used to be a very good school. It still has wonderful teachers and a dedicated PTO. However, the administration stonewalls parents, ignores requests for meetings, does not communicated anything so all information to parents is rumor based. In 2023, the administration closed classrooms, moved students around to different teachers, removed teachers from classrooms without any communication to parents. This is not a stable environment for students and until the administration changes, it is not a recommended school.

Incompetent staff that doesn’t do work or excite kids and prepare them for middle school. Some teachers would rather watch YouTube videos on dancing than teach content like math. All the pedagogical Differentiation is exclusively for student who are years behind grade level. This is the GnT program too. School doesnt teach social studies lol. Put ur kid anywhere else.

Horrible principal that has been there now for a few years and has run the middle school to the ground. No truthful staff/parent engagement. Multiple periods a week with zero curriculum. Favoritism. Staff favors children who's parents are deeply involved in the school. No standard for punishments. One kid can do something with a slap on the wrist, another does the same and gets suspended. You will get absolutely no where if you have a conversation with the principal but will receive in the moment what you want to hear but please know it's all lie. The principal is insulated by her staff who she lets do whatever they want. As far as the the board...I have no idea what they are doing or how they are allowing this. There has been a mass exodus just since this school year has started. Great school years ago, absolutely terrible school currently.

I’m an alumni and my son recently graduated. I was passionate about having him attend St. Joseph’s because of the positive impact it had on my life. All these years later, I can look back and truly appreciate what I learned there, the important values of discipline, personal responsibility, faith and care for others. All have positively improved my life at work and in community. I also walked away with a group of friends that I’ve maintained all these years later. The community St. Joseph’s creates for its students and parents is one of inclusion, acceptance and support. My son similarly experienced a positive learning environment with dedicated teachers, a variety of classes that included yoga & meditation, music, dance, making lifelong friends and excelled in his academics, resulting in a full scholarship to high school. It would not have been possible if it weren’t for the safe environment the school provides, allowing him to flourish in many areas. They also have a Faith in Action initiative where children take part in projects like writing letters to Veterans thanking them for their service, to children in hospitals providing encouragement and get well wishes, to elderly to brighten their days. The children learn that they can each make a difference in their communities by these simple acts of kindness and care. A Catholic school education is vital to the well-being of children and encourages the development of well-rounded individuals who care about the community around them. The discipline and respect a Catholic school education teaches is something all members of our society will benefit from, regardless of religious belief or culture. I highly recommend this school - it is a positive place to help any child grow into their full potential!
