Posted by a parent on 1/25/2018My 6th grader went to school here and he/we loved every moment of it. Teachers are caring and attentive. He was in top class from 3rd grade to 5th grade and had the best education. I am so happy that my 1st grader will continue to go here. The best public school we've ever seen. We go out of our district so that we can avoid going to P.S. 2 which was a horror.
Posted by a parent on 9/7/2017I moved my son to the special ed class in PS 70 from a D75 school. Upon reading the negative reviews I had great deal of concern whether this school was approprate for him. I even tried to put him in PS234 but since we were not zoned for it and their class was full we had no choice. I have visited the program at PS 70 once and at the begining of the year I met again with the IEP team-they were very professional and helfull and took all of my concerns in consideration. During the meeting they could examine my son briefly look over his school work from last year and mutually decided that its in his best interest to stay back in 1st grade. (Assistant principle was present and finalized the decision). This was the best decision ever-he made tremendous progress, has become more verbal and more social, and is academically on grade level in most areas. His teacher is very nice super animated but at the same time disciplined and fair. His therapist are all very nice motivated and knowledgable. I only wish his class was taking more fquent educational field trips as this is very helpfull for kids on the spectrum and other disabilities. And also that his class would have gym time as well as music class. I am very much looking forward to more progress next year at PS70.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePS 85Q used to be a very good school. It still has wonderful teachers and a dedicated PTO. However, the administration stonewalls parents, ignores requests for meetings, does not communicated anything so all information to parents is rumor based. In 2023, the administration closed classrooms, moved students around to different teachers, removed teachers from classrooms without any communication to parents. This is not a stable environment for students and until the administration changes, it is not a recommended school.Parent Review5mo ago - Ps 151 Mary D Carter

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGraduated this school last year. Money-hungry school. Fees are expensive but they don't spend the money to better the academy. Parents over-pay for the trips and events just for the school to use old equipment and display it as a fun day. They don't care about the students' mental health. Kids are always saying bad words and the staff doesn't even do anything about it. A few of my friends transferred to this school but they went back after only 1 year. The school counsellor is terrible. She does not care about how the child really feels plus she used to work at a public school. I don't understand this academy is referred to as a private school. The teachers are constantly yelling at students. The Christmas show is utter torture for the students. They dread it. The students are constantly missing special subjects due to various reasons. One of the teachers is constantly screaming at kids and sometimes even making them cry. The recess is not good either. The students don't have a playground and they have a 25 minute recess in the school parking lot. Crazy how the school can afford a big coffee machine for the principal's private office but cannot afford to get the bathroom cleaned. The girls' bathroom is disgusting and the toilets don't flush unless you flush 3-4 times. When you tell the teachers, they tell you to use a different stall. Overall, the school needs to better the physical and mental environment for students.Other Review2mo ago - El-Ber Islamic School
