Our Lady of Lourdes School

Our son is currently in 3K at PS 137, and we couldn’t be happier with our experience. The teachers are incredibly kind and attentive—especially Miss T, who has made such a positive impact in our experience there in 3K. Smallclass sizes are the best environment for kids and doesn’t feel like an overcrowded public school pushing enrollment. The PTA is very active, bringing in enriching programs like pasta making classes / activities to kids in class. The dance teacher, Ms. Davis, is amazing, and our son absolutely loves her class. The plus is, that as an LGBTQ family, we’ve felt genuinely welcomed and supported by the community. We plan on staying there throughout elementary as all the teachers seem fantastic. We couldn’t recommend PS 137 more—it truly feels like Brooklyn’s best kept secret.

I enrolled my child in this school hoping she would receive the extra academic support she needed through special education services. Unfortunately, it took an entire year for her to finally be approved, which was very disappointing. I feel that valuable time was lost while she struggled without the support she needed.From my experience, many of the students seem to be performing below grade-level benchmarks, and I honestly did not see much improvement in my child’s learning during her time at the school.My child was also bullied on multiple occasions. The teachers were not aware of what was happening, and I had to report the incidents several times before they were addressed. As a parent, I expected better supervision and communication regarding my child’s safety.Another issue was that one of my child’s belongings was taken by a teacher, and later I was told they could no longer find it. That was frustrating because no one was able to provide a solution or take responsibility.Overall, I believe this school has the potential to do better. There seem to be too many issues that need improvement, including academic support, student supervision, communication with parents, and accountability. I hope these concerns are taken seriously so future students can have a better experience.

As a proud parent of two children enrolled here, I can confidently say this school is a blessing. The small class sizes have made a world of difference—my children are not just numbers; they are known, supported, and celebrated.The teachers are deeply committed and truly care about each student’s growth. My son has been valedictorian every year, a reflection of both his hard work and the school’s dedication to academic excellence. My younger child, now in 2nd grade, is already a published author—something I never imagined at this age!This Christian school doesn’t just mention faith—it lives it. The children are taught to pray, lead with character, and aim for excellence in everything they do. There’s a culture of achievement here that empowers students to believe in their potential.The commitment of the faculty is evident—many teachers have been here for years, building strong foundations and lasting relationships. I also appreciate the forward-thinking programs like the tech club and STEM initiatives, which are preparing our kids for the future while grounding them in faith and values.I’m incredibly grateful for this school. It’s more than an academic institution—it’s a nurturing, purpose-driven community where children thrive.
