Posted by a parent on 1/27/2023The comment made by another parent here is completely in agreement with mine. The school can convince a parent that their child will receive the best education and academic support, but all it has accomplished is to make my son so stressed that his mental health is affected. I have not once felt that my child's IEP had been considered. It was not until three weeks into the school year that his mandated busing began, which resulted in him missing many days of instruction. As a result, he fell into a hole from which he could not crawl out to this day. The exception to this claim has been three people who have been my point of contact, and honestly, the only people who have attempted to help, but none of them have been his teachers. My child was a gifted and talented student from the third grade. He has always performed well, regardless of the few hiccups expected of a child with an IEP and certain struggles that I thought his IEP would help him overcome. They do not care if he falls through the cracks at Dock Street, and I am tired of hearing my child say to me that he does not "feel like the school even wants him there." Not one teacher has ever made an effort to reach out to me, even after a teacher's actions caused my child a mental health crisis. I am not even sure my son feels safe at school anymore.
Posted by a parent on 4/7/2022it's a beautiful school but there no team work with the Teacher's in that school they love to give low grades even if you deserve a high grade they still give you a low grade it's my son first year in the school and all we had was headache from the Teacher's instead of Teacher's coming half way with the Parent all you get is a hard time with them even went the parent working with the child and that alone its so sad and even in all this I feel very stressful what they should do is change all the Teacher's in that school and find Teacher's that want to really Teach Children and they see these children making it in life like they could see them self like Lawyers and Doctors and much more this school is not what it's say it's is there have to be some changes and make the school better. the community is beautiful but people got to go. were not in the classroom but there has to be some order in the classroom even went they meet in the computer there is no order in the classroom Teacher's have to show the children Respect in order to get respect.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has attended this school since 3k , he's now in pre k and I've seen a tremendous growth in him. He exhibits more discipline and more understanding for social rules in bigger environments. Staff has been very helpful and friendly. I've always received daily updates on what my child is learning via classdojo and while most schools still followed a strict covid procedure, this school did their best to safely include parents in their child's learning experience. The school is diverse in ethnicity as well, which is important in NYC.Parent Review1y ago - St Ann's School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe absolute worst and most traumatizing school imaginable. I left for high school and still struggle with the extreme racism and longterm harm this school perpetuated into my senior year. The only thing this school gave me was a killer common app essay. Do not send your kids here if they are not white and extremely wealthy.Other Review1y ago - Plymouth Church School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePlymouth is an incredibly nurturing school and our daughter has absolutely loved it since she started as a 2 year old. It is a nurturing environment that fosters confidence, kindness, respect and community in the children. It is play-based, child-focused and every single teacher has a degree in early childhood education. The also have specialists in art, music, learning/language, and a head librarian. Community is down-to-earth.Parent Review6y ago - St Joseph School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMeh it’s okay… the teachers were not strict enough and I barely learned anything in 4th grade… needed a writing tutor. A few years ago I got in a fight with a kid and the teachers wanted me to call him my “friend” like this kid punched me in the face he isn’t my friend. One more thing back in 2nd and 3rd grade the lunch they served at the school was terrible, like the food was frozen, bland and I found a hair in my rice and beans. Still a few positives are: nice teacher, nice students, fun activities, especially p.e and I hope blue school takes this information in to consideration. Lol idk why I wrote this.Parent Review1y ago - AltSchool Brooklyn Heights

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAfter a dismal experience in public school our son learned to love school again. Alt School Brooklyn Heights and now Union Square was the best move we could have made for him. Tons of communication and support at this school!Parent Review5y ago - Peck Slip School (The)
