There is no extra help for students who need help in any subject area. This is not a school to send your child if you want him/her to get into an excellent high school.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOverall I feel that great things happening at PS 119. The administration is ahead of the game and making strides to find ways to help the children become better citizens overall. I particularly find it a great place for early childhood. I would not hesitate on sending your child here provided that you are prepared to give them extra academic support at home. Where as the academic climate is not as rigorous as I would like (until the 5th grade), the social climate is a strong one. Better than you will find at the majority of public schools. Biggest concern is that some of the teachers and school support staff in the building need an overhaul. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has attended this school for three years. Unfortunately, bullying and harassment have been ongoing issues. There have been situations where the assistant principal had my child sign papers regarding bullying incidents without properly communicating with me as a parent, which is very concerning.In addition, some teachers in the younger grades appear to lack patience and rely heavily on yelling rather than constructive behavior management. Bullying continues to be a serious issue at this school, and communication with families needs significant improvement. The new principal barely is involved. Everything is the assistant principal.
