Edwin S Dodson Elementary School

Looking back on the education I was brought up with Roger Corbett Elementary in hindsight is a fantastic school. In thorough review it comes to mind that Roger Corbett Elementary was a gift of its excellent faculty, who were in my experience very friendly, engaging, thoughtful, and overall amazing addition to have been taught. In a loss of words to describe the memories built on this property to which educating the main goal succeeded splendidly I look back and gaze on the privileges this school had with wonderment innocence of a child. Academically I was gifted as child, which led to me being taught advanced courses separately but still in the same classroom of my peers with a specialized program instructor, these classes were interesting and engaging enough for an elementary student. Peers, friends were brought up on the excellent Cougar pledge the words which lose me but from memory recite responsibility, respect, safety and courage amongst others. In my time there I have only singularly had a fight in second grade, not of bullying but roughhousing with a now estranged friend. Moving on forward toward later years a never experienced hostility nor seen hostility engaged, this is due to the open dialogue of students to communicate conflict. Children were friendly in my time. Students and sometimes classes as a whole received rewards for academic progress, pizza party's, free time, and annual papers of achievements. Learning difficulties weren't differences we were taught singularly at the start and end the day the middle which allowed for reading groups or light assignments. Annually school wide events happened after school or during school like field day, or such as the Halloween festival engaging each class to work together and facilitate an activity. Amongst other things which elude my mind or may have changed I still remember this school fondly and wait for the future to send possible children here.

Students are expected to learn and teachers work together in professional learning communities to ensure student progress. Instructional decisions are based on data, needs of students and standards that rigorously paced in order to provide students with a strong foundation. As a STEM academy, students are exposed to high-level thinking and opportunities to develop college and career readiness in project-based learning projects that promote the integration of science, math, engineering and technology using collaboration and communication to effect real world changes in their community.

100% would not recommend this school!! My son started late this year, got bullied multiple times, teacher did nothing. Parking lot is a joke.. there is only 1 person “navigating” traffic in the parking lot.. drop off is usually ok. Until pick up. Drivers are insane and don’t know how to drive. A few days ago two cars pulled out, seeing me and almost hit me!! Made me swerve into an oncoming BUS!! this school is a joke! My son hasn’t even been wanting to go to school because of the bullying and traffic issue! He doesn’t exactly feel safe! School didn’t say much but tell me to pick my son up after traffic dies down… ummm weather has been hot, I’m not letting my son sit in the heat when others have been the problem.. this school needs more parking patrol and better teachers.. they literally don’t care...

Very performative white savior school. Unfortunately students are categorized and do not get full support in terms of learning. Learning is not prioritized and instead "optics" are. Most students in 5th and 6th are still reading at a 1st and 2nd grade level. Principal does not truly care about the children.
