Read what parents are saying about Roger Corbett Elementary SchoolLooking back on the education I was brought up with Roger Corbett Elementary in hindsight is a fantastic school. In thorough review it comes to mind that Roger Corbett Elementary was a gift of its excellent faculty, who were in my experience very friendly, engaging, thoughtful, and overall amazing addition to have been taught. In a loss of words to describe the memories built on this property to which educating the main goal succeeded splendidly I look back and gaze on the privileges this school had with wonderment innocence of a child. Academically I was gifted as child, which led to me being taught advanced courses separately but still in the same classroom of my peers with a specialized program instructor, these classes were interesting and engaging enough for an elementary student. Peers, friends were brought up on the excellent Cougar pledge the words which lose me but from memory recite responsibility, respect, safety and courage amongst others. In my time there I have only singularly had a fight in second grade, not of bullying but roughhousing with a now estranged friend. Moving on forward toward later years a never experienced hostility nor seen hostility engaged, this is due to the open dialogue of students to communicate conflict. Children were friendly in my time. Students and sometimes classes as a whole received rewards for academic progress, pizza party's, free time, and annual papers of achievements. Learning difficulties weren't differences we were taught singularly at the start and end the day the middle which allowed for reading groups or light assignments. Annually school wide events happened after school or during school like field day, or such as the Halloween festival engaging each class to work together and facilitate an activity. Amongst other things which elude my mind or may have changed I still remember this school fondly and wait for the future to send possible children here.

Our son is high-functioning autistic and rather than giving him the support he needed, they simply pushed him through to each grade level. When they would not allow him to be held back, we discussed getting him specialized tutoring to help lessen the gap between our son's performance and grade level. The principal, Ms. Brown told us, "you can get all the tutors you want but it's not going to make a difference." After hearing that, it was no small wonder why he wasn't getting the support he should have. Fortunately, we had an outstanding 5th grade teacher, who made a huge difference. I understand that teacher recently left the school. Despite living four blocks from Mt. Rose, our son was "not selected" to go to his elementary school for 6th grade and now has to ride the bus to Swope. Of course, he was notified at school before we were and he called us in hysterics. Three generations of our family went to Mt Rose. A few years ago, we actively advocated in the community with others to not tear it down. Now I kind of wish they had.Parent Review9mo ago - Mariposa Academy Charter School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe cannot even begin to express the impact you have had on our family. The girls have blossomed and thrived in your care, and have loved all their years with you. You haven't just taught them, you have nurtured and loved them, you've guided them while showing respect to them as human beings and enjoying them as individuals. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us raise our daughters. It takes a village and all of you, sunflower has been the best we could have asked for. We love all of you so much and are forever grateful for the time we've shared.Parent Review9mo ago - Nevada Sage Waldorf School
