Kit Carson Elementary School

Its an ok school has everything in its favor to be a good school but staff definitely needs to step it up. We need friendlier staff starting with the front desk to the teachers and management. We forget to use our manners and remember we work with kids who need patience, kindness, love. I feel like this school is wanting to always have there mean faces on and be so strict maybe for the older kids but dont forget there's younger ones there too and they have to love to come to school and see friendly faces not grouchy strict faces all the time.

This school has some of the worst teacher ive dealt with the principal is the only thing going good for them i have already removed my children plan and simple

This school sucks Matt Kelly Elementary School permits bullying with students year after year and doesn't mind telling parents not to tell their children to fight back Matt Kelly Elementary also permits students making hun threats towards other students this is unacceptable behavior the office staff is also rude the teachers can't control their classrooms students are able to roam around campus without supervision from an adult Matt Kelly Elementary punishments towards students are not fair and they are quick to blame it on a child or children with disabilities this is not fair to anyone if you care about our students I would suggest going to 8 on our side and get another attorney

This school gets additional funding for being a one-star school and lacks books my other son's 5-star school gets less funding and has more books and resources than this school (direct observation)! Their financial statements should be audited because I can't see the funds going to the kids (personally).If I were zoned for this school I would get a zone variance. 1-star schools are so far below average how can you expect your child to learn. They are the bottom of the National averages. Safety - 2 words - School lockdowns for hours with no communication on if the child is safe. Teachers are instructed to not answer the parent's text or call in lockdown. The special ed program just wants you to keep your child in the program and make up reports to keep getting the funding. The Special ED teacher said he would edit his report and never did!

My son seems to be “targeted” he can not speak for himself, but always seems to be the one punished or we get told the “violence” and “lashing out” he does. He is slightly autistic and has an issue with speech, he can not tell you if someone is doing something wrong or to him. Reviews and opinions can change all the time but for now this is what i think. They can not give an explanation as to what led to my son having to be “restrained” cause he was scratching and kicking and spitting when i have never seen him “lash out” ever. Not saying because he is my son and i know the difficulties behind him, but what the teachers portray him as, is not it.

My son started the Prek3 program this school year. By far the WORST EXPERIENCE! Principal is extremely rude and my sons teacher at the time didn't have any classroom management skills.They also don't follow the School Handbook. Myself or my husband would get called multiple times to pick up our son because he wasn't dancing during dance class or he was crying. He wasn't rpc or suspended. They would say "Oh he needs a break at home, bring him back tomorrow" .Principal would tell me our son tested low on test scores but she wouldn't give me the test scores for weeks. The stories they would tell us about our son was ridiculous. I caught them in their lies multiple times and they refused to take accountability. All the times I asked for a conference with his teacher, it was ignored and was told to wait until parent teacher conferences which was weeks away. As soon as my husband asked for a meeting with the principal and teacher it scheduled right away but she insisted on bringing 6 other staff members to the meeting and giving him some test scores that looked as if it was put together right before the meeting. The test scores didn't add up at all. Stating that our son needs to be on a behavior plan. Our son was withdrawn that same day. Our son is thriving and happy at his new school.Also be careful sending your child to after school care. They lack supervision. I could go on and on about our experience. Definitely don't recommend this school.The school lacks communication, professionalism, parent engagement and supervision.
