Read what parents are saying about Union Valley Elementary SchoolOur daughter has been attending this school for 3 years now, and we have always had a positive experience. They have family events to raise money for the school, multiple spirit day events to keep the kids engaged and having fun , and the teachers my daughter has had so far have been wonderful. They encourage parents to reach out to them if their child is struggling with a lesson or needs a little extra help. I can't speak for everyone, but our family's experience has been really great with this school.

Posted by a parent on 3/2/2023I am the parent of a Union Valley 4th Grader and 1st Grader. I am empathically disappointed in Superintendent John Bilodeau's and the Board of Education's handling of the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly their weak response to the Governor's push to get NJ Elementary Students back into the schools. Almost all other elementary schools in the surrounding areas have returned to full-time, in-person instruction. My children still only consistently attend 2 days a week. It is my belief that this laissez-faire decision was made to appease the teachers, not out of a concern for the best interests of the students. I too am a teacher, and I'm in my school everyday teaching my students face-to-face, because I know that's what they need from me, and it is my honor to be there for them. Because of Superintendent John Bilodeau's and the Board of Education's choice in not allowing students more in-person days in their classrooms, my 1st grader, who has yet to have a full normal year in elementary school, is ending her difficult, tumultuous first grade year with a C, low self-confidence, and a deep-seated dislike of school. Likewise, my curious, engaging, hardworking, straight-A 4th Grader, went from all A's at the end of the 3rd Marking Period to a C. Needless to say, this intrinsically motivated child who strives to do well just because he wants to succeed, was in tears and disbelief when he saw his grade. All of this could have been avoided if Superintendent John Bilodeau and the Board of Education made the socially responsible choice to get our children back in the schools where they belong. Now you have to ask yourself, if they are not considering the best interests of my child in this situation, what other situations may occur in which my child's best interests are not top primary? How can I trust them to make the decisions that are best for my children, despite what teachers may think. The answer: you can't. My trust in the school district has been shaken to the core, and my husband and I are looking into private school going forward. I prefer a school that cares more about the success and wellbeing of its students than that of the complaints of its teachers. I have called, sent emails, and attended the BOE meeting, but my voice has not been heard. I hope you will hear my voice.
Posted by a parent on 5/21/2021A 10. My daughter loves this school very much and refuses to go anywhere else until she graduates from the 5th grade and goes into middle school. From Her Pricipal & assistant principal along with her fellow teachers, librarian, PTO, nurses and office staff, they have all been great since day one and have been very attentive to her every needs academically.
Posted by a parent on 3/28/2019Our children love this school, their teachers and the PTO is very active. It is a friendly and warm environment where learning is top priority.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy grandson is doing exceptionally well at Erial. In fact, he is reading above grade level and is in the gifted program. As a former principal, I feel strongly that Erial has great teachers and very competent administrators in a safe, student centered environment. I also appreciate the staff at the latchkey program. It takes a dedicated staff, caring parents and a committed community to foster success in our schools.Parent Review3mo ago
