Read what parents are saying about Edgemont Elementary SchoolOur kids and family have had a great experience at Edgemont. The teachers and principal are dedicated and outstanding. Our kids love school and are learning well. Love the magnet...creates strong foundation for independent thinkers and confident learners! Too bad more emphasis isn't given to the comments of the parents and students when assigning the "greatness" rating of the schools on this site??? The test scores are swayed by so many things. This is the most progressive elementary school in our district and tends to have the highest testing 'opt out' rate in the district, not to mention it is the most diverse and has a higher percentage of students whose native language is not English . The test scores listed don't do it justice. Edgemont is a great school!
Posted by a parent on 3/18/2019The principle is fantastic! The teachers we've had so far have been great except for one who was good but not great.
Posted by a parent on 5/15/2018We LOVE Edgemont and wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
Posted by a parent on 3/6/2018As with all schools in town, the class sizes are too big. However, most of the teachers have a lot of heart, energy, are committed, and work tirelessly to reach children at a multitude of levels. With the new principal, there's been a sea change, and this school is benefitting greatly. She's embracing Montessori, listening to parental input, and creating a mentorship program among faculty. Edgemont is teaching our kids to be global citizens and critical thinkers.
Posted by a parent on 2/5/2013Have sent two of my children to Edgemont, the only public Montessori School in the State, and have not been disappointed. All teachers are Montessori trained. The new principal, Cheryl Hopper, is responsive, energetic, positive, and interested in involving the local teacher's college in the mix and has the connections to do it. The parents run an excellent after school enrichment program that will introduce your child to topics that are fantastic: art of the medieval ages, dance, musical theatre, yoga, art, rocketry, fencing and the list goes on.... Beautiful Edgemont Park offers its grounds for regular use, including the brand new, all-children's playground. One known as the best kept secret in town, not so sure it'll stay that way, especially with Hopper at the helm.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe believe the whole school is a joke from the top to the bottom. The community is not effective. After school program is another job. With the money you spend, you might feel disappointed. We thinks that school raking is overrated. Importantly, administrators are unbelievable and hard to communicate with them. No brainer.Other Review5y ago - Academy360 Lower School (Formerly The Children's Institute)

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI love reading reviews, but usually I am not a big fan of writing ones. However, after checking this website, I felt that I must share my experience and provide a heartfelt review of St. Cassian School. As a parent, I have had the privilege of being a part of this exceptional educational institution, and I am truly impressed by the dedication, quality of education, and overall learning environment provided at St. Cassian School.St. Cassian School prioritizes academic excellence by fostering a challenging yet supportive learning environment. The curriculum is great! It’s designed to encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The school consistently achieves outstanding academic results. At St. Cassian, education goes beyond textbooks. They offer extracurricular activities, including sports, arts, music, and community service. Students can participate in Choral Music, Musical Theater, Bell Ensemble. Last year, the students played Frozen Musical in collaboration with Bergen PAC, it was outstanding!! They also have additional activities like Mini Model Program, Mock trial, Robotics, etc.The teachers are highly qualified; they try to understand each student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles, tailoring their teaching methods accordingly. They combine the curriculum with Arts and technology to make learning more interesting, fun, and engaging. The technology is top-notch! Every class has a smart board, and each student has an iPad or a chrome book, depending on the grade. Students have access to the paper copy of their books as well as the online version (nobody wants to carry the huge heavy paper books every day!)They have regular parent-teacher meetings, and many school activities that create a supportive network where parents are actively engaged in their child's education. The community is wonderful! Not just the kids make friends at St. Cassian School, parents do too!In conclusion, St. Cassian school is an outstanding educational institution that excels in every aspect. It provides students with a well-rounded education and prepares them for the challenges of the future. The supportive faculty, state-of-the-art activities, parent-teacher collaboration, and wonderful community, enhance the overall experience. I wholeheartedly recommend St. Cassian School to any parent seeking a nurturing and excellent educational environment for their kids.Parent Review2mo ago
