Read what parents are saying about Beloved Community Charter SchoolBeloved is a great school for children to learn and push them to do better. And a great work environment and they encourage all the staffs and students to be more creative and involved.
Posted by a teacher on 8/7/2023It's a school that's decent if you've been there for a while, but really hard to recommend to others. The work load is crazy, middle schoolers barely get time for lunch and get no recess, the teachers don't really care for what their doing but to students that have already stayed there for years, it's nothing special to them and they know how to make school life there tolerable. At the end of the day, they do learn more than the average student but the chances of them really growing as a PERSON is low compared to them growing into a machine built for nothing but stress and work...
Posted by a student on 3/15/2022I gave three star’s because for one my son who had an IEP has good grades and he’s able to grasp the work. However they are not equipped to deal with children that has IEP’s Although they said they have a crew of special education specialist. My son get suspended a lot for things that are manifested on his IEP. He might have an outburst when he gets frustrated and he’s sent home instead of being spoken too. Also my son is being Bullied by thre young men the first week of school they told hom the we’re gonna fight him at lunch and he responded ok. Well he got jumped by three students who claimed to be in a gang and guess who was the first person to get suspended after telling. My son! They said because he said ok to the fight that he has to have a day out of school. It’s frustrating to tell teachers that’s there might be a gang issue and they are in denial . But I know the public schools are worst. I’m trying my best to continue to communicate I still have not heard from anyone from the bullying task force they said they have. My som comes home with bruises on his body which I take pictures of. But my son is scared to report it because he says the scholl are not going to do anything about. Hopefully my experience gets a little better. I would recommend this school because it’s better then the public schools In Jersey city but very challenging for children with IEP’s.
Posted by a parent on 11/24/2021To be honest i have had my child there for about 5 years now. Almost everyday they stay an hour at home doing homework. Often my child comes back with half of their lunch box full. I must admit though they learn a lot in the end of the day. If you have ever tried carrying their backpack you will find that it is so HEAVY. The amount of books they make them carry is unbelievable on the other hand the teachers are great and there is no bullying so overall i feel my child is learning which is the main subject of school
Posted by a parent on 12/27/2020They are squeezing in 2 schools in the same building, as they share with Empowerment. As a result, kids have little time to eat lunch, and if they take too long to get to the lunch room, too bad. They also have limited time to use the restroom. Ask any child or parent who goes there.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe love this school, we found it to be a happy environment for our child, which Jersey City schools lack overall. A+ for diversity, great principal and so far good teachers. I think theres always room for schools to grow so took some points off for that.*There are parents that expect an insane academics program and nothing else and forget what a city school is about and what offers along with their curriculum. For those parents there are other schools in JC that will ONLY offer that to the children and nothing else, do your research.Parent Review7mo ago - Dr. Michael Conti School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son is in the dual language program, and my daughter is in PK 3. The teachers are supportive, and eager to educate our kids. They make a real effort to push our kids to learn, but in a way that makes learning fun and approachable. The paraprofessionals, security guards, and crossing guards are also wonderful--you can tell they really care for our kids. The PS5 community as a whole is working together to continue to make the school better. The PTA is amazing, and is always working on fundraisers for school trips, grants, and the beautiful garden.Parent Review11mo ago - Julia A. Barnes No. 12 Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBoth my children have attended Genesis and we have nothing but great experiences with them. They are kind, compassionate, helpful and caring. Just what children need at an early age. From the reviews before, there is new administration as of 2017 and things have improved greatly. I highly recommend it!Parent Review5y ago - First Christian Pentecostal

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have two girls going to Primary Prep. One in the second grade and one in a toddler's program. My second grader started at Primary Prep in Kindergarten. She loves her school and all the teachers she had so far. My two year old loves it too and has not cried once. I love the fact that it is small but very diverse and also very affordable compare to other private schools. All my daughter's friends are from different backgrounds; Russians, Indians, Filipinos, Koreans, multi-cultural families, LGBT families,,, all in her small class of less than 20 kids!I wish the school has more progressive educational method with more outside recess time and nature oriented learning experience but I knew going in it is more traditional school. My girls are doing exceptionally well and sometimes I feel my older one needs to be more challenged but what is the most important is the loving and caring environment and she definitely has it at Primary Prep. Also Mrs. Hoffman and all the teachers and staffs have been amazing during this pandemic. The school has been open with in-person classes this whole year with a very few closes and we also have virtual class options. Even in the beginning of pandemic, school came up with structure for virtual classes very quickly and ran smoothly. All my friends who moved out to suburbs with the best school districts continue to suffer even to this day. I have to say, Primary Prep's tuition is much less than my friends' property taxes in the suburbs. This is the best hidden secret in Jersey City!Parent Review3y ago
