Read what parents are saying about George Washington SchoolGW is the best thing Edgewater has! My son loved his school, teachers and activities. Five stars.
Posted by a parent on 5/6/2022Preschool was phenomenal as was her teacher but this year in kindergarten we are getting a very different experience as my child’s teacher is a teller and have made her cry. She’s really harsh and punishment are a bit excessive. I have brought it up only to be told she’s a great teacher and has over 30 years of experience. I was hoping kindergarten would be filled with fun approaches to learning and a lot more movement but it’s very academically intense for a 5 year old and homework every night. I wish they had adapted some of the play based learning that her prek class had. Chairs are also lined like old school classrooms so no collaborating or playing with friends like I’d expect on kindergarten but that may be due to covid. I also miss Principle Veras, she was phenomenal. New principle seems very impersonal and not approachable. Overall my daughter enjoys her school and is learning so it’s not all bad. The facilities are beautiful and most of the teachers there are exceptional. I think we just got a bad fit with our teacher this year.
Posted by a parent on 1/22/2022The school program is very weak, no written program, teachers are yelling at kids and keeping them in fear in order to keep order in classrooms, the principal of the school is not equipped at all with any conflict resolution skills and makes matters worse, the principal very openly states that "kids need to go through rough situations, otherwise they are not prepared for life". I think differently, this is elementary school! and kids need to see love and care before they see hate, then they need to learn how to stand on their feet before they can stand up to an anger filled teacher, who hates her job and releases her stress in her classroom, only then they will be able to voice their opinion. The school management can't even iron out the bus schedule, kids are being dropped off late to school, dropped off at wrong destinations or left unattended on the bus. The only positive is the brand new building and location, it's very nice and of course there are a few good teachers, but not sure they will last long in that environment.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIn General : Fort Lee Public Elementary School No. 2 stands out for its excellence in education, dedicated teaching staff, strong commitment to student safety, and active family engagement. A top choice for a well-rounded educational experience. We have a small bad experience with my son's teacher in kindergarten last year, as she was very tough and hasn't any patience of dealing with new comers students like my son. Also the Principle was not helpful and didn't support us regard this issue.Parent Review7mo ago - Children's Home Montessori School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is by far the best school in the NJ/NYC tristate area. I have taught at many different large , expensive, and prestigious private schools in NYC and NJ, and Children’s Home Montessori has not only the best education, but an amazing supportive faculty and Head of School that set a positive example for all of the students . They are shown how important it is to respect their teachers ,their fellow classmates, family members, and to be kind and caring to all. This is taught even from the early age of 2. It positively affects their at home behavior, instills good morals, and sets the children up to support one another and celebrate each other’s achievements and successes! The children are accounted for every second of the day which is extremely important. It is a safe, stable, and loving environment with incredible structure. The children are taught to think independently and to be kind and compassionate from the day they start school there. The children love one another like one big family. The art, music, math, language, science,Latin, English, reading, penmanship, and grammar classes are geared to set the children up for success. They carry these qualities and pass it on throughout their furthered education and lives. They are lead by example to have a high moral compass which they also continue to carry on even after graduating. The children work one on one with teachers daily and are taught to think for themselves. The children are cared for impeccably and the faculty cater to each of their individual needs. I would not send my child to any other school. It is by far the best school in the New York metropolitan area, not only educationally, but it also sets your child up to be a successful , humble, kind, and compassionate productive member of society.Teacher Review2y ago - Notre Dame Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt's a very nice school. My daughter went for three years. She still misses Small World School. The principal is very kind and takes good care of the children like her family. Thanks to her, my daughter was able to gain a lot of knowledge. And all the students and parents who go to this school have a rich heart and are all wonderful people. Our family is happy to meet this school.Parent Review2y ago - The Moore Learning Center
