6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageArthur Tappan 46 is not in a rich neighborhood, so the best education is not to be expected. From my experience it is a TACTLESS environment. My child complained daily about the profanity and rude remarks made by the 7th grade math teacher Wilson and did not do well overall and emotionally at the school. This school and its principal condone the yelling and negligence of some of the teachers by not requiring them to practice common or healthy communication skills as adults. The school does not work with us as parents so that we can mutually do the best we can at encouraging our children towards promotion or at helping them gain a proper understanding of what is expected of them as a student's/child. Schools have zones but if you can change schools, your child would benefit.Parent Review2y ago8 Reviews - Ps 4 Duke Ellington

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur daughter is about to complete the 3k program and our experience at PS 128 has exceeded our expectations. The administration is proactive, responsive and organized. Culturally, the school is diverse and welcoming. There is a lot of school spirit and camaraderie amongst parents and staff. The teachers are experienced and thorough. We have had experience with private school through or other child, and our parent teacher evaluations at PS 128 were just as thorough and detailed as our private school evaluations. Our daughter participated in social emotional learning and play based learning. She was also exposed to art, dance and music. She has grown to be a confident and an avid learner. We have also seen how supportive the teachers are with students with IEPs and development delays. Very happy with the school. Parent Review3y ago5 Reviews - Ps 153 Adam Clayton Powell

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is unsanitary and they always get people in trouble for no reason or get people in trouble when it was someone else's fault and they do not review camera footage unless a incident was reported and they end up having to review it and when you get in trouble they do not let you explain your point of view and none of the students like the school and the teachers almost never update the parents with their child grades only thing they rarely do is update them on their behavior and some teachers let the kids wrestle and its either the teachers are too strict or not strict at all which ruins you're experience in the school the teachers are respectful and supportive but its mainly the school aids that are rude or too strict the teachers are alright.Student Review1mo ago4 Reviews - William Lynch School (The)

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have one child who just graduated from 5th grade and had a wonderful experience. My son just finished 1st grade and has special needs. His experience was horrible. We were continuously told that the school could accommodate his needs, which they could not. I continually expressed concern this past year about the special education teacher's treatment of him. I had been told by other parents that he was inappropriately being disciplined by her. I expressed my concerns to the new principal, who told me that I shouldn't be influenced by other people's "perceptions." We continued to express concern when my son started having nightmares and lashing out at home. He started not wanting to go to school and having meltdowns at the door (when he loved to go last year). Finally, a staff person called another mother in the class to tell her that 4 kids were being mistreated by the special education teacher, and that this teacher had a "fixation" on my son. I was later told that he was being forcefully pulled by the arm and screamed at and humiliated by the same teacher. The mother who received the phone call went to the principal who told her that no one else had expressed concern about this teacher. This was untrue as 5 parents had gone to him with complaints previously. It is very difficult to get your child out of the school once they are in. There are not a lot of good options for kids in the area, especially those with special needs. This school does not have the expertise to work with your child. I learned afterwards, from a team of people observing my son in the classroom for another program, that he was spending hours of the day wandering the halls of the school. I did not know this. This is not ok. He learned basically nothing and now hates school. I wish I had sent my son in with a camera to get this teacher on film, because despite mine and other parents complaints, this teacher will be returning to teach in the fall. Please send your child to this school with caution. If there is a problem, it won't be addressed, it will be hidden. Don't send your special needs child here because they simply aren't able to accommodate but will insist they can.Parent Review6y ago23 Reviews
