Read what parents are saying about Cedar Grove High SchoolGreat friendly staff! Handle bad situations well
Posted by a community member on 7/25/2020If any issues whether it be with an IEP, bullying, etc are brought to the attention of the administration, no solutions are provided. What you will get is a myriad of excuses and generic answers. No accountability on their part, ever.
Posted by a parent on 12/24/2019Pros: The small size is incredible, I knew everyone in my grade (and pretty much every other grade) and all of the staff even those who I did not have classes with. It made the school feel safe and homey. The superintendent (the principal when I was there) clearly wants to improve the school and has already made amazing strides, so the school has a bright future. Some of the best memories and friends I have are from this school. I love that the special education department is improving rapidly (despite what other reviews may say). If you're just entering or you're a parent bringing their child never having known what it used to be you may just look and see that it's not perfect but having seen it in the past and then again now (and also working in special education) it's pretty impressive how far they've come and how dedicated they are to improving it more and how they're really invested in the children who do need accommodations. The staff is amazingly accessible whether it be in person, over the phone, or e-mail. Since everyone knows everyone it really feels like you can talk to the teachers about anything and go to them for help as a student and they're equally willing to problem solve and be open for the parents. There are many clubs and activities to fit all niches. Staff are willing to discuss college at great lengths and help students with their college essays. Also they have block scheduling so you take 8 classes but you only go to 6 each day, allowing for more focused classes and breaks from a class when they sometimes feel necessary. Fantastic art program! (I'm genuinely not artistic at all and I still thought the teachers and classes were amazing in that department) Small building, easy to navigate. Cons: College readiness is the biggest con, they discuss applications and transitions tons which is great but I still was very alarmed when I got to college and had to learn to research, study, and cite in formats other than APA. Not a large variety of AP classes at all. Public speaking and life skills could really be improved. There is no diversity, but that's the whole town there's not much the school can do about that. Tenure seems to turn some teachers into babysitters who don't care while some amazing teachers I had got fired because they were new and we had budget cuts. May feel isolating at first to people who weren't in CG K-8.
Posted by a community member on 9/21/2019The school lacks diversity, and, along with the town as a whole, is comprised of extremely conservative views among students as well as some staff.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers and staff are the best thing about the school. Unfortunately Little Falls voters are not giving them what they need to be successful and if it continues our school will suffer and we could eventually lose many of our great teachers. Little Falls voters should be ashamed of themselves for not voting to give our school the resources it needs to address serious issues that were clearly communicated. They chose money over our children and an investment in the future. We have had an excellent relationship with teachers and staff, but this school needs more funding before it's too late.Parent Review1y ago - The Montclair Kimberley Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI love reading reviews, but usually I am not a big fan of writing ones. However, after checking this website, I felt that I must share my experience and provide a heartfelt review of St. Cassian School. As a parent, I have had the privilege of being a part of this exceptional educational institution, and I am truly impressed by the dedication, quality of education, and overall learning environment provided at St. Cassian School.St. Cassian School prioritizes academic excellence by fostering a challenging yet supportive learning environment. The curriculum is great! It’s designed to encourage critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The school consistently achieves outstanding academic results. At St. Cassian, education goes beyond textbooks. They offer extracurricular activities, including sports, arts, music, and community service. Students can participate in Choral Music, Musical Theater, Bell Ensemble. Last year, the students played Frozen Musical in collaboration with Bergen PAC, it was outstanding!! They also have additional activities like Mini Model Program, Mock trial, Robotics, etc.The teachers are highly qualified; they try to understand each student's strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles, tailoring their teaching methods accordingly. They combine the curriculum with Arts and technology to make learning more interesting, fun, and engaging. The technology is top-notch! Every class has a smart board, and each student has an iPad or a chrome book, depending on the grade. Students have access to the paper copy of their books as well as the online version (nobody wants to carry the huge heavy paper books every day!)They have regular parent-teacher meetings, and many school activities that create a supportive network where parents are actively engaged in their child's education. The community is wonderful! Not just the kids make friends at St. Cassian School, parents do too!In conclusion, St. Cassian school is an outstanding educational institution that excels in every aspect. It provides students with a well-rounded education and prepares them for the challenges of the future. The supportive faculty, state-of-the-art activities, parent-teacher collaboration, and wonderful community, enhance the overall experience. I wholeheartedly recommend St. Cassian School to any parent seeking a nurturing and excellent educational environment for their kids.Parent Review2mo ago - Lacordaire Academy
