Read what parents are saying about Lillian M. Steen Elementary SchoolA blue ribbon school and it shows. The staff is attentive and works on kids’ needs individually. There’s lots of extra programs too. So many fun activities for the kids too.

Posted by a community member on 8/30/2015I have two kids in Steen over the last 5 years, and they have had a great experience at Steen School. They have had great teachers who are willing to provide extra help if needed, as well as provide more challenging work for specific students if it's required. The teachers are willing to devote personal time to many school activities, like Science Night, Student-Faculty games, Garden Club, Talent Show, etc. They also organize a "Week of the Arts" which is a week of assemblies and workshops to promote the arts. All of these events are also supported by a very active parent group. Like anywhere else, there are some parents that don't get involved, but for the most part the parents here do participate. There has been some turnover in administration, but the teachers have helped to ensure a smooth transition. If you only look at test scores you may be a little disappointed, but if you are interested in an all around good education for your child, Steen is a great school.
Posted by a parent on 6/3/2015My 2 children have been going to Steen since kindergarten. I absolutely love this school. The teachers invest a lot to our children. They are available for extra help before and after school on a regular basis. They do not run out of the building once the bell rings. There are also SO MANY extra programs in and out of the school to help with any academic or social issue your child has. The teachers plan a Garden Club, Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, Bucket fillers, Talent Show, Student vs. Faculty games, Week of the Arts and so much more. The district just purchased 30 Chrome books and will purchase an additional 30 in the up coming months. There are Smart Boards in every classroom. We had a tough time the last few years with new principles, but the staff and faculty ensured a smooth transition. It really annoys me when I hear people putting down the Bogota School System. I've lived in this town for 14 years. And people have no idea how great the schools are. For such a small town, we have 3 public schools, 1 Catholic school and at least 2 preschools. That's a TON of kids. Proud to say, I love the Bogota School system. My kids are thriving.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child was diagnosed with autism and has made tremendous progress in Lincoln. The entire school supports the special needs classes and students. Their teachers go above and beyond to communicate effectively with us. I know my child is being cared for in a supportive and caring environment at Lincoln.Parent Review4y ago - Memorial Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averageadministration competence is extremely low. special education services is lacking and the case manager has minimal experience. school lacks diversity and any sort of cultural learning. Staff is predominately white. The school used to have plays and talent shows for the students and these programs are no longer offered. School mainly focused on core curriculum. Quality of education is basic. District and town is not BIPOC friendly.Parent Review3mo ago - E. Roy Bixby Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBixby is such a nurturing school with a huge focus on academics. Principal is very hands on and teachers are excellent. I only wish they had a playground and more traditional things like spelling bees and science fairs.Parent Review1y ago - Fanny M. Hillers Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has been at Hillers since the second grade and from day one, I have loved it. I was very nervous at first, but the principal assured me that she would be fine. Words cannot express how caring the staff is. It is a very wonderful learning environment and I have been happy with my experience at Hillers.Parent Review7y ago - Jackson Avenue Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJackson Avenue Elementary was not the school for my son at all. He attended from K- 2nd grade...The reason he made to 2nd is because of my financial situation otherwise he would have been transferred out 5 months into Kindegarten. The teachers are gossipy and could careless about my child's education. I was very involved too bad they were not.Parent Review9y ago - Trinity Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI absolutely in love with this place! I enrolled my daughter in the kindergarten program and I love the teacher and the way she is teaching my child. All the kids are happy and my child doesn't want to miss a day of school. My daughter has been there since September, but I see a big difference in her academically. She has learned a lot and I'm so happy with the teacher and the school. They have excellent equipment that is always clean, and the teachers go out of their way to provide every possible opportunity to the little ones. They genuinely care for my daughter, and she always gets the attention that she needs. They bring the children outdoors at every opportunity and always have engaging activities planned. I love this school and I would recommend it to anyone,. Happy with the teacher and the people at Trinity.Parent Review9y ago - Montessori Plus Academy
