Posted by a parent on 10/2/2022This school has good teaching but doesn't care about your child's wellbeing. Especially when it comes to conflicts with other students. The principle is the least sympathetic person the school has. I recommend not sending your child to this school.
Posted by a student on 1/26/2022Overrated but a supposed high quality of education. Sports coaching staff were mostly bullies, guidance staff were a joke, lots of "bending the rules" for overachievers, not a strong Special Education program (especially compared to WAMS, there are just too many kids here). Teachers were mostly aloof and either really young and inexperienced or old and grumpy. There also seemed to be a lot of turnover in the staff ranks as well. All RHS really cares about is winning awards and getting recognition. They didn't even offer up to take the ACT as an option when I went here. I got into a great college after going here, but that was IMHO total luck and involved lots of outside effort on my end to do so.

Posted by a student on 8/16/2019This school is good if you're a cookie cutter student. But if you're in any way struggling due to mental disorders, this school administration does not care about you. They will treat you as a problem instead of a human being needing understanding and professional/medical help. No compassion at all. The treatment we received here nearly destroyed the educational careers and mental health of myself and one of my siblings. The curriculum and the teachers are very good for the most part but the administration is completely awful. It's possible they've changed in the last few years but I doubt it.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school along with most public schools are not focusing on education. You only have to look at the recent principal hire. She has no real experience in the position. This school used be a 9/10 on great schools. You would think the board would have to looked to hire someone with a proven track record of turning around poor performance. N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSomerset Hills Montessori school has been a god send to me and my daughter. We immediately became apart of the somerset hills family. Because that’s how they make you feel at this school, like family. My daughter attended school and camp here for 3 years and again they have been a blessing. The level of education that my child has received is truly astounding. Her level of learning is currently at the level of a second grader thanks to Somerset Hills Montessori school. N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have two children at SJS and will soon have all three there. The youngest is beyond excited to go because she sees how much her brothers love it there. We have been so happy with our experience there, from the extremely dedicated teachers and classroom support staff to the administration. As a child, I was subjected to extreme bullying and abuse at the hands of my peers as well as certain teachers, and I was certain I wanted a better experience for my own children. Saint James has provided everything I was looking for and more. I can't say enough good about this place. A note to non-Catholic families: the school will make you feel welcome even if you don't practice the same faith.
