MCPS has been awesome so far! It's my little girls first year at the school and we were so blessed to have gotten the teachers she has! Mrs.Hassler and Mrs.Johner are both amazing and are some of the very best in my opinion! I don't think she could have gotten a better kindergarten teacher or teacher assistant! They are caring, passionate about actually teaching and making sure my little one is above where she needs to be!! She loves going to school and loves learning! The staff there at MCPS are amazing as well! Special classes such as art, music, pe, etc. have pretty awesome teachers as well!! Ms. Carol at the front is a super sweet and beautiful hearted person and she shows love to the kids every day!! My sweet girl loves her!! So far, I am very pleased and content with my little girl being there! She had made huge progress just in the first half of the year and I can't wait to see what all she is capable of the second half!! I Def recommend this school!

Both of my children went to Morehead City Primary School. They transferred in from other schools and it didn’t take me long to see the positive difference in Carteret County Schools. Each of my children received an excellent education with teachers that were truly concerned about their emotional, social, and educational well being. I would absolutely recommend MCPS to others.

This school has the best of both worlds: the advantages of a large school such as technology and arts programs; and the warmth and inviting environment of a small school with caring staff and involved parents.

My child attended this school for Kindergarten and First Grade 2009 and 2010. We were lucky to get two great teachers (there are many who are not good). The administration of the school was awful. They constantly pull the kids from valueable class time to attend events that are costly and not educational. It's no wonder there is not enough time to cover what they should by the end of each year. Transition to a good school required a summer of homeschooling for my child which was a top student at MCPS. Tiller is a good option if you win the lottery and are accepted. But, if you can afford it, send your child to St. Egbert. If those options don't work, homeschool or move to another area. MCPS is crowded, so the wonderful equipment and impressive spaces you see are useless unless your child is aggressive enough to fight for a spot. As for a warm atmosphere, I would've settle for a respectful, professional atmosphere.
