Holbrook Middle School

This school should be avoided. They do not keep students safe! My grandson came home with second degree burns that we were never told about it, but had discovered the injury on our own. He was not sent to nurse, his teacher was not told and neither were we. We got nothing from them!They do not act like they want parent engagement.

Now that higher-income neighborhoods are assigned to the school, the culture and parent involvement is improving. I think great things are in-store for this school's future!

Horribly judgmental and inconsistent application of school standards.

Gaston Christian has had a very positive impact on me as an individual. I have watched myself a long with many students grow in their faith and love for others. Without Gaston Christian and their amazing staff, I would not be who I am today without them. I have been taught to use my time wisely, how to treat others along with the knowledge of why we do so. The teachers have out of this world love for their students. I had to make up a test once for when I was out, and after school in the middle of it, another teacher walked in and asked if my teacher if she would be joining them for lunch, and the teacher replied with a polite no and said she was with a student. Of course I felt awful because this teacher who has given me so much grace is now missing out on a lunch with her co-workers, but it was the love she had for not just me, but the love she has for her students and how seriously she takes her career as a teacher and a role model for her students. Before Gaston Christian I was having many conflicts with students at public school and felt very lost in my faith, but at Gaston Christian I am now on my way to go into ministry and study Theology at Belmont Abbey. Thank you GCS!

We moved to NC last year and enrolled our two girls at Gaston Christian (8th and 5th grade). Coming from the West Coast, where the girls were enrolled in private Christian education, we wanted to continue in the same way. My daughters love Gaston Christian, they have made great friends in a very short period, the teachers are amazing, on top of being well educated, and the kids overall are nice and welcoming. The school offers quite a variety of sports, besides the regular options (soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball) they also have tennis, golf, swimming and cheer. Their art curriculum is beyond varied, ranging from choir, band, dance, to theatre, set production and costume production. As a family, we feel like we have hit the jackpot with Gaston Christian school, and while we would like to keep it a secret, because we like the smaller number of students (under 1,000), we cannot help brag about the great school we get to send out girls to.
