For the amount of tuition paid to this school, they should have: up to date technology where children have their own computers and not have to go to the computer lab that has broken computers, a decent playground area for children, where the equipment is not broken, maintenance staff for cleaning, and a real administrative staff. No gym equipment for children during PE. There is no programs included in the tuition as advertised on the website, these are outsourced programs that are additional paid outside of the tuition. There are 2 grade levels in each in classroom. I was proud of my child going to an all black school, but it really lacked and did not meet up to what we were paying every month at all. Very overpriced. The one good thing that I can say is my child gained more discipline in his learning, but that was due to the excellent teacher that will not be returning. Then had the nerve to increase the cost for the next year. Please, I did not bring my child back the following year. Mr Wilson you could do better.

The teachers really care about students and the students are challenged academically.

New City has been a wonderful place for kids to grow and develop for more than 50 years. It has been a leader in multiple intelligence, social-emotional learning and authentic inclusion, while promoting Joyful learning as its bedrock. My son -- who also attended a highly rated secondary school, Brown University and Northwestern Law School -- says unequivocally that New City is the best school he ever attended. The school produces kids who are self confident and ready to face the world with imagination and empathy. As a parent, grandparent and long-time board member, I can recommend New City School wholeheartedly.
