Mississippi Magnet Elementary School

I love Community of Peace Academy. All three of my sons have attended this school, and the attention and care they have received is amazing. The teachers are very experienced, and many of them have been at the school for 10+ years. This school really values relationships and peace. Of course kids have conflicts that come up, but the school teaches them conflict resolution skills to work through it, and when a kid gets in trouble, they are expected to right their wrongs. One of my sons had some behavior issues when he was little, and even though some days he was breaking rules multiple times (like, double digits), the teacher still treated him with kindness and gave him the chance to grow and improve his behaviors. Neither I nor my son ever felt like the teacher was mad or disliked him despite his challenges. The patience, love, and unconditional positive regard is so evident at this school. I also felt like my kids were challenged academically. For example, my middle boy was an early reader, and the teacher provided him with individualized lessons to help him grow at his own speed. I highly recommend this school.

I went to CSE for two years and sadly graduated from there as it was the nearest school to me. I took various classes that I would call extremely lacking, especially when it comes to the electives. Math itself was pretty great, the teacher taught well, especially as it was the hardest math class this school offers (Pre-calc), not only that the Government and Economy teacher was pretty great as well, I learned quite a lot. However, these teachers have favorites, I may or may not have been one of them, but I see how they treated my classmates. Teachers mostly favorite the female students due to a higher amount of school effort, however this has caused resentment to build up amongst the boys. Due to favoritism, the boys began to talk bad and bully the girls, blaming them for things that they did not do. The principal was okay, she tried hard to implement rules--- although, many students do not like her, even now due to the extreme no phone policy. Many boys have tried and are still trying to get teachers fired, however in my personal opinion it is because they lack the effort to try in school. The admins of this school are horrible, they do not try to get the students to engage in classes, rather they prefer to have them engage in performative arts such as the Hmong New Year and even International Day. I believe that if this school wants to be better, they must first address the known issues rather than ignoring the students and making things worse. Overall, this school gets a 4/10, its teachers are what makes it more "alive". Please, if you want your child to grow up with an abundance of education, do not enroll them here. There are no programs other than PSEO to help them.

I am forever grateful I made the decision to send my son to St. Jerome. The teachers get to know each child and their unique styles. My son struggled academically the first few yrs due to learning disabilities. The teachers and administrators helped to create a unique plan and creative adaptive techniques. Each semester his test scores and retention improved. They know him personally, which is a huge advantage a small school and low teacher student ratio can provide. The focus is progress based pin on individual level.I am thrilled with the progress I have seen in my son, academically, spiritually, and personally. The strength of character of the students and staff is unlike any I have seen at an elementary level school!

All of our children attended Faith Baptist Christian School from Kindergarten through eighth grade, and through grade twelve, when it became available. The teachers are loving and kind, the curriculum is excellent, and the Godly preparation for further academic success, and for life, is just what we had prayed and searched for, as we sought a suitable school for our oldest child, so many years ago. All of our children were well prepared for college, and most have graduated with four year degrees, or more. Faith Baptist Christian School deserves the highest praises for excellence in education!

I was heavily bullied that’s school for a hole year by many students and was failing every class. I was new to the U.S so I did not know English my main teacher never did anything to help me. I did not like the science teacher and honestly the students were terrible.
